In late March 2013 Elephant Walk cafe (along with the adjoining Peacock cafe) was buldozed to make way for a new branch of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia as part of the massive revamp of the entire Bole Road from the Airport circle to Meskel Square which is now well underway and due for an early completion before the big rains start in July 2013.

Better than average hamburger, not a lot of vegetable 'fill' like other cafes - coffee is good as well, location is what makes it popular.

Popular and busy from breakfast till late. Good coffee and pastries along with one of the best roasted chicken in town, the club sandwich is huge, the service is fast and the draught beer is always cold

My friend and I came here for lunch several times on our trip to Addis and were shocked at the portion sizes. We ordered sandwiches (we're expats living in Tanzania so we enjoy western food when it's available) and when our orders came out, they were so enormous that I reminded them that I only ordered one portion - not 2. The sandwich was about what I would have expected. We also had strawberry juice (delicious!) and cake (also delicious). I would certainly recommed it if you're hungry.

I live in Addis. I know there are flies everywhere, especially at outdoor cafes and restaurants. But I have been to Elephant Walk on 3 separate occasions, and each time I feel like I am being attacked by them. Am I crazy, or are there just 3 times as many flies making there home here? In any case, not sure if or what the restaurant could do about it, but their food has also just been mediocre, so I'm not interested in braving the swarms just to get below average food. As much as I wish this great space and location was living up to its potential, I don't expect to go back
