Decent business style hotel. Nothing fancy, comfortable rooms, sound meeting facilities. Breakfast options are poor to average, but workshop lunches are great. Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive.

I stayed here for one night as our partner organisation had arranged a room for all of us here. When I normally have to spend the night in Addis Ababa, I go to a hotel which is more centrally located. It was arranged already so I had to stay here.

I was planning to stay here more than just one night since I did not want to change place again, for just a 3 day stay in Addis Ababa. After one night, I changed my mind.

In my bedroom there was no wifi connection whilst this was very necessary to work the room. Instead I had to sit in the hall way of the floor where my room was.

In the evening I planned to have a drink at the sixth floor bar. There I had to wait 1 hour to finally enjoy a Bacardi & Coke.

The breakfast served was a buffet, located under a staircase. The food served was not something what you would expect for this price the hotel charges. It is limited and it looked rather poor as well. I ordered a tea but staff seemed annoyed since the tea was finished already.

All this made me decide to change hotel after all. Staff at the reception is ok but staff serving you in the restaurant and bar is simply bad. Poor internet service in the rooms is not helping either. For this price range, there are far better choices in Addis Ababa.

Two weeks at Beshale during work stay in Addis. The staff was kind and helpful. The food was all right, but lack of coffee in the morning is not acceptable. And when you want a second cup, it was tried to be charged... The rooms was ok, balcony at at all rooms, without balcony chairs (?). Clean and nice, the staff cleaned it up. The bathrooms could absolutely need for a renovation. All in all, ok, but not for longer stays. Wifi was not reliable, that make it difficult to work from the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the backside of the hotel, to the road its to noisy.

Had to stay for one night as i was in transit in Ethopia,
The rooms were bad and smelly. The staff was ok, and least courteous.
The food and the restaurant on the other hand was good. Would not stay here if i had other options.

I stayed here 4 times for a total of 5 nights over 2 weeks recently. It's definitely not a five diamond place, but its not too bad either. And it's affordably priced compared to the hotels downtown.
One the plus side: The staff are very willing to help with anything you need. The location is closer to the airport than are the downtown hotels, and the road leading northeast is right out front. They are building a light rail track right out front too, which ought to help with the traffic situation when completed in a few years. The room rate also includes a decent breakfast buffet. There is a lunch and dinner buffet, and you can get food and drinks upstairs at the bar.
Guest rooms can vary in quality and noise levels. I prefer 5th floor rooms on the back, but there was a yappy dog out back a couple of nights. Rooms in front have a lot of street noise. All the rooms seem to get a lot of noise from the hall. The furnishings are old and worn, but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom the first stay was in need of better cleaning and had a leaky tub faucet. The other rooms were in better shape. WiFi worked all but one night, but the power was out all around us and the hotel was running off its generator. But, WiFi may not work well in your room since the walls are concrete and the routers are in the halls. It worked best in my room on a Microsoft Surface Pro, and least on my smartphone.
I've read reviews for the other hotels in Addis, and based on those I don't think Beshale is too bad, especially for about $85 USD. You can pay with dollars if desired, and you can exchange dollars for Birr.
We didn't book this hotel o. our own - it was booked by our Ethiopian government hosts. But, I think I would consider it in the future unless I needed to stay downtown.

I stayed at this hotel twice during the month of June (when the temperature is fairly mild). The hotel is off the beaten track and away from downtown and a lot of the hustle and bustle. It is located across for a large church and it is located on a busy street. The staff is very polite and friendly. The rooms are spartan and the functionality with water and electricity can be spotty. But overall a moderate place. Food offerings are minimal so it is best to go out to eat. Overall, spacious, clean, safe, and great interior space. Other amenities leave a little to be desired.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors away from the center with a balcony (the rear) are better.

As other reviwers have said, don't expect this to be great. Its quite grubby and run down. Wifi goes on and off, half the hotel is quite noisy. I'd be happy if it cost 1/2 the price, but for what it basically a reasonable local hotel, it trys to give the appearance and price tag of an internationally competitive hotel, which is a bit disingenuous. Staff are welcoming in my limited experience.
