I arrived to Addis on the 10th of April 2010 ( my 2nd time) That day I stayed at the Wassamar hotel in Bole in Addis Ababa. I had exchanged at the Airport around $1900 into 25,000 ET roughly. When I arrived to the Wassamar hotel everything was ok . except there was no water pressure in the shower, I could deal with that. I had one of the bellhops attendants to take my shirt to the cleaners. He said there would be a sign on the door for me to pick it up at the laundry place. I went in to the city on Bole street around 1200 pm till like maybe 700pm. When I returned to my room I checked my wall locker and had seen my shirt was inside ironed and cleaned. I had checked my bag, where I had my money and all my money was gone, even the money that was in a different currency. I asked to speak to the manager it took him an hour to come to the hotel. He told me they suspected one of the cleaning ladies and that he would provide me with more information of how this happened. but he never did.
I came back to the hotel 2 weeks later and asked to speak to the manager again it took him an hour and 20 minutes to come let his staff know to let me know he was there, instead of him coming to tell me directly. When I talked to him it was a different manager then the other one I spoked to last time. He told me he did not know knothing about it and that on a sheet of paper they use to improcess customers into the hotel, it states that they are not responsable for customers leaving there goods in there rooms. I was like WOW. What kind of business is this who does not take responsability for their employees. I was like who would like to come to a place like this if they feel there personal items are not safe. We'll not me anymore and hope who reads this learns from this.

Unfortunately, it is hotel policy, as is the case for any hotel in the world that hotels are not responsible for loss, damage or theft of cash, jewelry or other valuables left unattended in guest rooms. For the convenience and comfort of our customers, we provide safe deposit boxes in the rooms as well as front desk for the safekeeping of these items.

That being said, at Wassamar Hotel we are committed to providing our customers with an excellent service and resolving any issue that may come up. As a result, we have contacted the customer to resolve this situation.
