“Best simple Ethiopian food in town”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

I ate at a number of restaurants in Addis during my time and have had Ethiopian food many other places as well. As far as Addis goes, it was the best food without having to pay for all the extras like entertainment, etc. It's a relatively small, simple, out of the way place. The prices were not cheap like getting it on the street, but a good bit less expensive than the 'cultural restaurants' around town. If I were in town long term, this might be the only place I would go to eat regularly. Service was good, food was great, quiet music, and far enough out of the way that few tourists/expats will be there.

“Authenticity and economy”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Traditional food beautifully presented in a small, pleasant space in an unassuming neighborhood with mostly Ethiopian diners - and recommended by an Ethiopian friend who has worked for international organizations in many countries. Don't be deterred by the entrance, which looks like a hole-in-the-wall. I went with an Ethiopian friend, who had the Orthodox church Friday fasting plate of tasty vegetarian foods (some fast!) and a South African colleague who ordered Doro Wat, the fabulous chicken and egg strew. I'd go back often if I could. The bill was around $15 for five of us!

“Excellent food and value”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Had tradition Ethiopian fasting (vegetarian) plate and it was excellent - they made the plate at the table and told us what was in each dish and how spicy each was. We finished with whole fish done in the pan and it was delicious - an then topped of the mean with fabulous Ethiopian coffee. Service was slow but totally worth it - sat in a back patio that looked a little like someone's backyard but again, totally worth it. The entire meal was delicious

“Average traditional food but fun”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Recommended by an international worker living in Addis Ababa. Visited in group of 20 and we were crammed around a few low tables. Buffet food average but good atmosphere with live singing. Quite a few locals, not surprising as its not that easy to find.

“Real Ethiopian Food”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Most of the Ethiopian restaurants cater to tourists than locals. I had the good fortune of being taken here by someone who knows the city and I must tell you that the quality of food was amazing but more importantly it was authentic. The place may be a little difficult to find but addis is not exactly a sprawling metropolis. Even the tej was great without being over sweet yet potent. Not sure why this restaurant is not ranked higher considering most of the ones that figure in the top ten are merely tourist traps.
