It’s hard to rate this hotel. While I can’t really complain about the comfort, the staff are so complacent and uninterested in smiling that it makes you as a guest feel like a nuisance. The extremely high rates and not accepting any credit cards is another drawback. But the gym, pool and food are nice.

… one puts up with the indifferent, unfriendly and rude staff; the awful breakfast coffee; the power cuts and the poor WiFi connection. However, for what it is the Ledger is totally overpriced. I stayed in Ledger for 4 weeks during a work trip to Bangui in late August/September. I was hoping to move to another guest house, but did not find a suitable option with adequate security standards. During the four weeks, I enjoyed the hotel gym, which was clean and spacious, but much less so the pool, which was packed on the weekends with external visitors and did not give the impression of being clean. The Ledger garden is generally not very pleasant, is full of lizards and the service is horrid. The Ledger kitchen is not innovative at all. Staff is not helpful and waiting for a waiter to order a drink on the terrace can take up to an hour. Biggest annoyance was the wifi, which only worked on very rare occasions making it difficult to work from the hotel. In sum, the Ledger should just only charge for the standard it delivers, which is probably 2/3 of its current price.

Room tip: 2nd floor.

Very good in comparison to all others in Bangui but don’t have too high expectations. Good bed, working AC, OK security , OK fitness center. Restaurant is doing the minimum and food was very average . Make sure you take cash (also ATM’s mostly never4 worked) as card machine is always broken unless you push. WiFi in the rooms almost non existent and OK in lobby . Room safes generally don’t work and not sure staff doesn’t have code anyway.

First of all, a word to the wise: although the security situation in Bangui is currently stable, it can change very quickly, and the security situation in the rest of the Central African Republic is fluid, to say the least. Therefore, travelers should prepare appropriately, take all the necessary safety and security measures, and follow their respective country's travel advisory recommendations.

Now, that said, the Ledger is a very good hotel, by far the best in Bangui, and in fact amazingly good given the very challenging logistical environment in which operates. The latter shows in some dated elements here and there and the requirement to pay cash in advance, but the hotel is comfortable and clean, the staff is beyond attentive, the restaurant has a reasonable variety of good quality food, and there is even a nice swimming pool. So, what's not to like?

This is the best place to stay in Bangui. Great amenities and clean rooms as per international standards. Would recommend highly for any travellers that need a secure and pleasant place to stay in CAR.

Only downside is that bathroom water is not always clean (probably to do with the region) and not a huge choice for breakfast. Otherwise really liked it.

Room tip: Pool side view is best.
