I booked to stay at this b&b after reading the reviews on Trip advisor. The friendliness of the staff does not compare to the other places available in Cape Verde. Dont expect hot running water unless you request for it when you are booking a room, and even then do not expect the confirmation email to be truthful - I received confirmation that I would be picked up from the airport by the owner herself, only to be charged for a taxi fare, which according to the staff was 10euros. The next day when I booked the taxi myself the charge was approx. 3 euros. It was also confirmed that I would have a sea-view. When I was shown the room and told the staff it had been confirmed I had a sea-view room, the staff were confused and said there was no such thing and I was shown there was no such thing as a room with a sea view. The owner lives in America, and is less than helpful, very money oriented, having spoken to her. If you want to make calls the staff are not allowed to use the phone and you will have to give them money to go to a shop and buy a phonecard for you. Aweful aweful aweful - if you're thinking of booking here, you've been warned. This was the only problem I ever came across whilst staying in Cape Verde, and I visited various islands. The owner is dishonest and gobby; would not recommend this in the slightest. The choice for breakfast was stingy and basically left overs.

I stayed here with my wife on the last night of our one-week trip to Cape Verde. We arrived later in the day and left very early the next morning, so I didn't spend much time at the hotel. Here's the useful stuff I noted:

The staff was very helpful. They provided advice to us via email before our arrival and gave us great recommendations for restaurants when we arrived. Both of the places they recommended were within a 5 minute walk, and the one where we ate was delicious. The staff person even volunteered to walk us to the restaurants to show us the way. They also changed some leftover Escudos that I had to Euros at a very good rate. Most amazingly, though, when they thought we had left a set of keys in the room after checking out, they sent them to the airport and they made it all the way to us at the boarding gate. Unfortunately they weren't our keys, but this extra effort says a lot about their customer service!

The location was good - there were 4 or 5 restaurants from our guidebooks within a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and the main square of Praia was also close. The trip to the airport was less than 20 minutes, maybe even less than 15, and about $7-$11 US, depending on the time of day. The downside of the location was that it was on a darker back street. I've heard Praia is a little unsafe, so walking back after dark was a little scary, but we were safe. I don't think there's a safe place to park nearby if you have a rental car.

The room was fine, but didn't live up to the standard of what is on the web site (iron/ironing board, coffee maker, etc.). However, when we emailed to make the reservation, the staff told us what our room would include and it was accurate. There was a private bathroom with cold water, including soap, a small porch, a fan, a wardrobe, and a queen-sized bed with mosquito net. There were mosquitoes in the rooms, but I think that's normal for Praia. The nice thing about the room was the bright and unique decoration. Our room did not have air conditioning and was pretty warm. It also was not very dark since the windows opened to brightly lit areas. There is also a rooftop patio, and the hotel can sell you water, soda, or beer at a reasonable price.

Note the hotel requires pre-payment of rooms, but you can see the room before you pay.

If you have a stop over in Praia and want to spend the night somewhere close to the airport and walkable to interesting sites, this is a great place.

Be careful, the website promises far more than you will find.
No Internet in the room,s no hair dryer , microwave etc.
A lot of promises however not provided.
We have been such disappointed that we left
even before we stayed for one night.
