I am currently 1 week into a 4 week stay at this hotel having moved from a disaster of a place (Top Hill Residence) and I am very happy with the place, The rooms are very well laid out with everything i need during my business stay in Burundi. The location is beautiful with lake views out towards the mountain range of Congo. The food is of a high quality and the service is great (once you get their attention, which takes a few minutes). the general prices are a little expensive but it is a hotel.

One thing to take note on though is the shuttle bus to and from town. we have used it several times now and the advertised timing are not really adhered to especially coming from the centre back to the hotel (take the phone number of the hotel and call them about 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup to confirm) we waited for 30 minutes yesterday and eventually took a taxi.

other than that fantastic! Thanks!

Room Tip: try and get a lakeside room its away form the bars and very peaceful

Dear Client,

Thank you for sharing your one week stay at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel especially for your description of the Hotel, location and facilities.
We apologize for the late pick up of our shuttle from downtown but sometimes at peak times there is a lot of traffic that can cause the delay.

We will do all our best to make the rest of your stay more wonderful

I have stayed here a couple of times. Both times I thought the service was very good for Burundian standards and of course the location is stunning. The rooms are nice. Clean. But relatively simple and there are some things that clearly need maintenance. Which at these prices (bear in mind you are in Burundi) you would not expect.

the online booking system is shambolic! It requires that you make a deposit on some Italian payment site (in Euros!) and you don't always receive confirmation from the hotel.

One of the highlights is dinner on the beach. The first time I stayed here this was magical and the reason I booked another visit. The second time though there was no dinner being served on the beach and there was a children's party at the poolside late at night on a Friday. Very disappointing.

Breakfast was very good - and served in the beach restaurant!

Overall it's a lovely location. But I think it is overpriced.

I attended a get together of UN staff at the hotel as we all gathered from DRC. it was amazing to see the rooms layout and the magnificent view they offered of the lake. The swimming pool as well was good. The beach was clean and well maintained as normally one finds it littered around in Burundi. I would love to fall back and enjoy the facility once more. The language remains a barrier if u r not a french speaker and the parking space needed some improvement.

Room Tip: Get the one besides the pool or else go for the corners overlooking the lake!

Dear client,

Thank you so much for your review on your lodging experience at Hotel club du Lac.
As a French-speaking country, the Hotel noticed an average level of english proficiency and has started an English training for its staff. The first team already got their certificate and we are processing with the second team .
We welcome you again for your next stay in Bujumbura.

As a frequent guest to the hotel we usually look for a parking space next to the main entrance to the hotel. However, according to the management all the parking space is secure and guarded by a private security company and by the national police. One day I left behind my small briefcase inside the car under the front seat and returning to the car I first did not recognize that my briefcase has been stolen but only when I arrived at home. The car had been broken in with such a professionality that the lock was still in a working condition but with traces of manipulation. Of course, parking is always on owners risk, but for a hotel which wants to be the best location in Bujumbura I am expecting more responsibility to guarding the property of the guests.

Dear guest,

We really sorry for your loss. As you already said he Hotel has guard in the parking but sometimes people with bad intentions can escape the vigilance of security.
The hotel reinforced the number of guards and rotations in order to avoid such situation to happen.

This is apparently the best property in town, but somewhat rundown. Rooms are spacious and quiet but AC does not work properly and bathrooms are really rundown. Breakfast is OK but very slow. Nice pool and pool area and very friendly staff. The hotel has its own beach at Lake Tanganika.

The location is not the most convenient if you have meetings in town but for a holiday, that does not matter. The hotel is right next to the water, so there is lots of sand and if you get a room facing the water, you get a great nights sleep. The staff do not speak English, maybe just a few, so you might have to explain yourself over and over again to be understood but even then, they try really hard to please. Overall, its a great place to stay, if you purpose to forget the bad road that leads to it.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake are less noisy unless you have a problem with the sound of the waves.
