“Great food, lovely people”

Excellent food and really friendly. Will recommend it to everyone who needs to go there. Was there also on a Friday night and did not notice the "noisy nightclubs". I was a bit tired though. What more can I say?

Rooms are clean, comfortable and practical and everything works.
The restaurant has to be one of the best in Bujumbura so even if you don't stay here, you should definitely visit the restaurant.
Rooms are all air conditioned and have hot water and a mini bar and very reasonably priced, breakfast is continental only so don't expect a full English but the freshly baked croissants and breads certainly make up for it.

I loved the food, you can pick any item of the menu (except frog legs - thank God for the translation) and you will enjoy. Coming from Kenya when frogs are not eaten I did not have the guts to try that. I enjoyed the food so much that I took photos of each meal.

The rooms re nice and the stuff are friendly. They speak French, English and some spoke Swahili.

It's difficult to find this hotel, the front is the same width as a shop. You go through the steel gate into an alleyway and it opens up to a small hidden hotel. It has very few rooms and they are quite small but they are comfortable and have aircon which works well and mosquito nets around the beds. The hotel is also a restaurant and this is its strength, the food is amazing and very good value, with frog's legs on the menu you could think you are in France. The background music is mostly jazz. Everyone was friendly and helpful, we arrived at 23h30 and they still made food for us. I was only there for two nights, wish I could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: The rooms are very similar. My only tip would be, even if you don't stay here, visit the restaur...

For meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, a french food delight. Unexpectedly incredible food. We still talk about it months later. Low lighting and ambient music add to the amazing experience. We did not stay at the hotel, but very much recommend the restaurant.

I think the rooms of the hotel are probably just 4 stars, but the restaurant puts it over the top. First the room; it was very comfortable, and air conditioned which was a huge plus a not always a given in Bujumbura. The bed was quite nice, and had more functional mosquito netting than most. The arrangement was a little odd, and the furniture was just plastic chairs, but overall can't complain. And even though my room faced out on the main road I had no trouble sleeping, the noise was not bad at all. The wifi was pretty good in the room too.
The restaurant was really excellent though. Terrific bread, intelligent and tasty dishes, espresso drinks, and prompt service. I stayed in four hotels in three countries on this trip and this was the best, both in terms of the room and the restaurant. I will definitely be using Botanika as my home base in Bujumbura in the future.

I stayed at Botanika for over a month. I loved the warm welcome, very nice style, good services and internet Wi-fi and excellent food. The Botanika team speaks fluently both french and english making communication easy. In addition they succeed to make you feel at home. Well, during the weekend nights there is some noise coming from the outside road and night-clubs; but it is easily manageable. I highly recommend the place.
Enjoy!
