“Safe place”
Reviewed November 13, 2011

The best thing about this bed and breakfast place are its staff who are helpful and the place is safe, it appeared(though one should not venture out without caution). The not so great thing, in contrast, is the size of the room which is small.

The breakfast is frugal with coffee/tea, toast and juice/fruit. The amenities/facilities in the room are ok. An advantage is the wireless Internet.

Great value for money! Cosy, friendly staff (who will even come and pick you up when you are lost in OUagadougou), and good location. Recommended!

Nice, friendly, clean - the best hotel I stayed at in Burkina Faso! The rooms are friendly, there is a nice terrace and balcony, good food (prepared by an italian chef), nice breakfast included and the staff is very friendly. For longer stays there is even a kitchen. For 2000 fCFA there is an airport service, it's not easy to find the hotel otherwise!
Reservation recommended!

I've been at Maison Chez Giuliana during my fourth work mission in Burkina Faso. I had the great feeling of beeing at home. Friendly, clean and comfortable. A great place to stay also if you have to work. It's a place very peaceful where you can concentrate on your computer (free wi-fi on the terrace, not bad and not to easy in Ouagadogou)

Had an excellent stay. The hotel and its grounds are very beautiful, decorated inside and out with local art. The hotel is in a relatively quiet residential area, which means you need to take a taxi to get downtown. Enjoyed cooking for ourselves in the kitchen and eating on the 3rd floor rooftop. The owner and staff were very friendly and accomodating.

There’s hardly any fault in beautifully equipped (to chase away highly dangerous mosquitoes) Chez Giuliana: house dog Flick welcomes you with a lick and a joyful bark, see-through geckos swallow up all hazardous insects, goose Coco dives in a pot of boiling water to make your Sunday dinner, a choir of singing cockerels punctually wake you up at 4am so that you do not miss your early morning jog session running up and down the stairs and mooré speaking guardian Ussu kindly buys you half fresh baguette from the next-door 24/7 open boutiquer. All jokes aside, Maison Chez Giuliana is the perfect guest house: its three floor, vibrantly coloured building boasts cosy rooms, a wide terrace with sight on the capital Ouaga, and a friendly, reliable and helpful Burkinabé staff co-ordinated by Italian hosts Giuliana and her son, Michelin star chef Andrea. Loads of languages spoken, Piedmont dialect included; pick up and drop off service available on request. 100%fab.

A photographer friend and I crossed Mali to Burkina Faso by bus, motorcycle, cab, car, foot... When we arrived in Ouaga, at Chez Giuliana, she looked at me and said: "This is paradise! Thank you so much for finding it!" and hugged me :-)
We had been taken care of by Andrea and friendly staff... We were home, in a cosy and warm environment.
Highly recommended.

Just one remind for future intrepid travelers: both Mali and Burkina Faso are not well served by ATMs, unless you have Visa.. so bring enough Euros if you don't want to be rescued by friends who send you money though western union. Even on that Andrea was extremely helpful.

Thanks Chez Giuliana. Hope to see you again in two years, for the next SIAO fair.
