Description: A unique dining experience in Gaborone, centrally located in the heart of the city in a quiet residential neighborhood. Caravela offers three distinct dining areas to choose from - a gorgeous outdoor garden to enjoy summertime lunch and quiet evening dinners, a bar dining area with a casual ambiance and warm fire in the winter months and an inside, air-conditioned dining area for those business meals or special occasions. Portuguese cuisine is served with seafood being the house specialty. The menu is varied with choices of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and vegetarian offerings. Main entree prices begin at P69. All food is prepared fresh on site and may be customized to your individual tastes and diet. Large groups can be accommodated with quick service for those needing to return to the office. Take away food may be ordered as well as platters for office meetings. Friendly service in a comfortable atmosphere.

“Really good experience”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Have now been here twice. In an area without much competition, the meal is authentic Portuguese, with flaming Boerwors and great steak. Attentive service, very good wine. Wasn't sure about the chicken giblets with pir piri that my local colleague ordered, though, but he enjoyed it!

“A piece of Portugal in Gabs”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Service is always excellent and very personal. The menu stays the same, but always great. The wine list has geographical variety with good prices. The food is great and maintains a persistent excellent quality. In my three years in Gaborone, never a bad meal. The ambiance is unique in Botswana, maybe even in southern Africa. I look forward to each time I go to Caravela. Beyond comparison in Gaborone.

The best place to eat in Botswana. Was there a few times. Fresh food. Great service. Recommended to every one looking for good food at a reasonable price. Outside sitting also very nice. Great fish.

“Overrated”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Very pricey food, but no wow factor. Kingklip and prawns were just average. I should still be in ecstasy given the bill that was placed on the table.
