Business friendly hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 9, 2016
I was in Gaborone for a short business visit and I found this hotel to be decent and it served my purpose.

The staff was good, but could have been more welcoming. The room size is average, it was clean and comfortable. However the bathroom could be cleaner, as tiles were discolored. The hotel serves a full english breakfast and I would rate it very good.

Hotel has a small bar, but they do not serve dinner. So you may end up doing a 5 mins walk to the Peermont Walmont hotel across the estate, and you will find three restaurants where you can choose to have dinner. My personal preference was the asian cuisine, Bai Sheng.

The best thing I would recommend about this hotel is it's located in compound of the grand palm and that enables you to access all the facilities of the complex be it the cafe, bar or pool. Even casino is just a walk across.

Property looks exactly what a business hotel should be like, no extra spaces, no extra luxuries, basic infotainment, place to retire after long day and things you will need on a business trip.

Starting with enough parking space ( parking area is almost equal in size to the hotel area), pool at the back, good interior on entrance ( no big stairs to climb or porch to drive), simple yet stylish lobby space.

Rooms are small in size and they have made it cumbersome by putting wardrobe units more in width and hardly any space between bed and wardrobe. Could have thought something about it. Bath is good, neat and small. Although in some rooms, the shower points do look old and inelegant compared to outer looks of property.

Worst part of room was the heater cum air conditioner, a wall mounted unit, making quite a noise in nite, but surely effective. And best part of the room was its bed. I just fell in love with the bed, amazing comfort and what a sleep i had during my stay, almost got late for meetings.

Breakfast menu is sufficient to fill your buds, same every morning, and you might wanna check if they can try and suit your taste on any other day. They have a bar facility till late night.

Another trouble you might run in is ordering food after 10 pm. And its not just this hotel, but a general routine in Botswana. They literally go to bed early and rise early. So no food options after 10pm.

Room service is okay and they need more training on the staff efficiency, whereas people are courteous in general sense all over the country which reflects.
Check in and Checkout times were average. Lifts are slow and hallways are small like in 3 stars.

I still consider pricing a bit on higher end compared to the other properties, which might be a downside for some travelers although seems Peermont being the brand name behind it.

Room tip: Prefer the property view, ask for it. Rooms on far ends will be quiet.

This was my 1st stay at Metcourt Gaborone. My bedroom was good with an amazing Bed (Thank you). However, the Bathromm seems to have been an afterthought, it lacks imagination and is dated. Breakfast was below par when one considers the price (B&B). Were those pork sausages?......... at your prices surely it would not be too much of an ask to source proper traditional pork sausages and not these "malnutrition" processed excuses.
All on all, based on your 3-Stars I would give you a 6 out of 10. I will be back.

Room tip: Please do something with the bathrooms they are almost more important that the bedrooms

overall I think the standards have dropped slightly.. between the selective breakfast , the not so clean corridor carpet and the overall state of the rooms during check in ya I think we have seen better days . I used to prefer Met court to better rated hotels because it gave me the same value for money with a little bit of a chill factor .... compared to bigger brother grand palm Met court was a bit reserved and chilled but still presented the same aura and services...Please go back to your glorious self

Room tip: mornings in the east side rooms are disturbed by traffic

Value for the service received not well balanced, maybe in a B & B I would get a treatment of a king with the amount paid.
TV channels: SABC channels from DSTV none, yet you are still in Africa and close to RSA.

Room tip: Rooms and showers too small.
