Well, the service was good but that's about it. None of the food was actually bad, just average at best. The beef in black bean sauce was ok but had some gristly beef. The stir-fried lamb was the same. The Beijing Duck? Simply not worthy of the name. That was hugely disappointing. Fatty slices of wet and tasteless duck. No thanks. But the waiter was very friendly.

After hearing great things about Bai Sheng I was very disappointed. It was stiflingly hot inside. The staff were very sweet and helpful, but our food took ages to come. When it did come it was not good at all, greasy and overcooked. This could be down to teething problems ...

Bai Sheng opened with great promise at Christmas 2012. The decor inside and outside in the garden dining area is great (although a few more lights outside would be nice please!). The food is good quality and presented well although a few missing dishes such as proper crispy duck with pancakes and a chilli sauce to go with some of the dishes would be welcome additions. Nice touch with free chinese tea (although not always offered). The staff uniforms finish off the look of the place.

Unfortunately we have been let down on service a number of times despite their claim of "5* trained staff" and more so recently than when the first opened. On our last visit we booked in advance, on arrival the table wasn't ready so we waited in the bar (for about 45 minutes). Dishes were slow to arrive with long waits for dishes for everyone, not enough menus for all guests, drinks slow to arrive, tables not fully laid or cleaned despite asking a number of times, complaints not handled effectively (in fact rudely).

Drinks are fairly expensive (expected in a hotel restaurant) although we noticed if they give you the Beef Barron Wine List the prices are cheaper than on the Bai Sheng menu for the same wines!

We may give it one more chance as the service seems to be a lottery. Not what you expect for a supposedly 5 Star Hotel Restaurant. We'll stick to the Chinese in Sebele Mall for now which is cheaper and has just as good food and service.

The secret is out! Everyone in Gabs is talking about Bai Sheng, and it's just awesome! The restaurant serves Asian Cuisine and everything is prepared fresh by chefs is a kitchen with peep-through windows. The restaurant is part of the Grand Palm Hotel. Decor is tranquil bamboo grids against warm red walls, with water fountains and also a bamboo boma effect on the one side. We went there twice, be sure to book. Our Beef Stir fry was a taste sensation: crispy and tender with interesting flavours served with Egg Rice. We also had the Chicken Strips with chili and ginger tones that was delicious. Dishes are reasonably priced and many people order a variety of dishes that are shared which makes it festive and interesting.

Hi all! This is my third time to experience Bai Sheng, the Chinese Restaurant in Gaborone, Botswana. Beautiful red decor with wooden carved doors. Indoor and outdoor seating. Each time, the food was delicious and fresh. And each time, the service improved.(Was here in January, February, now March). It was definitely slow on our first dining experience, as the staff was in training, but by this third dining experience, food arrived fresh, sizzling, and on time. (It did take a while to get the dessert, but it was a full house. Suggestion: have options for a 1 or 2 scoop ice cream dessert as 3 is an overly generous serving) The staff is eager to please. I have tried the cashew chicken, chicken with noodles, sizzling chicken, vegetable & chicken spring rolls, fried rice, and my favorite, the fresh vegetables dish, which I would recommend for each table. I tried the crispy duck but it wasn't for me, though other friends say they order it regularly. I am looking forward to trying out their soups, fried crab, and dumplings in the future. (I have heard they now offer a small plate of vegetables if you are a single diner there, so that you can have a small portion with your main course, if you desire.) The food prices are very reasonable. Alcohol beverages are pricey. I will certainly continue to dine here, but will most likely concentrate on the food menu rather than the wine and dessert menu. One of our guests really was hesitant on having dinner with us, saying only later that he really does not like Chinese food, but after this meal, he said he was definitely coming back here again and again. Well done, Bai Sheng! Open Tuesday-Sunday. Dinner only.
