“Well worth it...”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

We were flying through Gaberone on our way North.

I only wish we could have spent more time here as everything looked great from the swimming pool to the casino and the restaurant/bar areas.

The room was comfortable but small. The shower was a bit tricky to work out. Otherwise it was perfectly clean.

Maybe it was a bit pricey as it didn't include breakfast which would have been appreciated as we had a long days travel ahead of us.

never thought this would be a great business hotel, but I was fooled! the staff was very helpful and would go out of their way to assist, thank you. Good location for both North and South clients or going to and from the airport, great shuttle service. I could have walked around the grounds for hours, almost that safari feel to it? Rooms had a great business layout, good WiFi connection, good supply in the mini bar, for a quick drink, bed was very comfortable, room was clean and not cluttered with "stuff" good desk to work at, great bathroom layout, good spa supplies (soap and shampoo) next time I will have to try the casino

Used this hotel as base whilst visiting business clients in both north and south Botswana. Overall room was clean, spacious and well maintained. Wifi worked well in room however did hear 2nd hand reports from others that their particular rooms had issues. Breakfast good quality and staff reasonably efficient to service requests.

The beautiful grounds give this hotel a safari feel, and the friendly staff makes this hotel a wonderful place to stay. The rooms have all the amenities that can be expected in a business hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised to find electrical sockets for US plugs so I could use computer without an adapter. On the downside was the WiFi which was uneven to say the least.
I liked that the windows can open, and would have liked it even more had the windows had mosquito screens to keep flying insects out at night.

I stayed for 4 nights and had a most enjoyable stay. My WiFi worked in reception, in the restaurant and in my room so maybe the WiFi issues have been sorted?

The Beef Baron serves perfect steaks most of the time. Out of 4 dinners 3 were 5-star but one was not - the chef simply could not get my steak done medium to well. When I got my steak for the third time it was sort of OK but by then I was hungry so I ate it. Most probably different chef to the other 3 nights where I could not fault the food. Breakfasts need more variety but the dinners make up for this lack of choice in the mornings.

Grand Palm is still one of the best hotels in Gaborone. (I tried the Lansmore Masa Square on my last trip and it cannot compare to the Grand Palm! The breakfasts were better but that was about it.)

As others have commented, this place is not up to international 5-star standards and the wifi was uneven - but it is a pleasant place to stay. I spent 7 nights there, and would probably stay there again.
