“Reasonably priced, possible to drive around yourself”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

I may give it a star too many but it was our first ever visit to a game reserve here in Botswana (or anywhere in Africa for that matter) but we really did enjoy our visit. Most animals are fairly used to the cars, so they don't run away if you drive slowly and just wait on the roadside. We saw quite a few folks zooming past us... not sure why - maybe if you're really experienced at spotting animals, then speed won't matter. But we enjoyed cruising around the roads.
We saw kudus, zebras, antelopes, monkeys (sorry, can't say which exactly) and got quite a few good photos, so we were very satisfied.
We discovered the ostrich standing by the gate right when we were about to leave.

A nice activity for a couple of hours over a weekend.

“The bush, but close to home”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

While there are few predators, and no large ones, this is a lovely hour or two in the bush. You feel like you're miles away from Gaborone, but are in fact right on the edge of town with the top class World of Golf literally minutes away. Take a picnic to one of the sites where you can get out of the car, but watch out for monkeys. The bird viewing at the ponds can be very good, although it gets a bit overgrown and too easy for the wildlife to hide! During dry time, fodder is put out and you may even see the elusive Eland at the feeding troughs as well as some of the largest warthog I've ever seen!

“Near Gaborone sun”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We had a awesome time in the reserve. Saw antelopes, zebras, monkeys, ostriches and a number of other animals and birds.Very nice. The sewage water smelled awful but we drove by and closed the windows. Nice for a few hours. Near the town and easy to locate. Not expensive, 10 Pula per person and 10 Pula for the car for a day.

“A worthwhile couple of hours”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

This trip came at the end of a working week by way of relaxation, and it certainly did the business. Bouncing around on the back of a jeep-cum-charabanc is a great way to wake up and take notice of what's around, and what's around included a wide selection of antelopes - especially impala - with monkeys, superb warthogs, hornbills (if you kept your eyes peeled), and most magnificently a number of giraffes, seen up close and personal.

Gnu, hippos and flamingo were glimpsed in the distance, but the hyenas lived in a wire enclosure, lured to the roadside by the driver for us to get a good look before they loped off again. Apparently there have been some bad experiences in the past with elephants and lions, and now there are none of either.

This made an entertaining and interesting contrast with a week spend mostly in Gaborone itself - and at about GBP13 per head it was well worthwhile.

“Nice for a little day trip”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

GGR is modest but so close to the centre of Gabs that it's worth a trip if you just feel like a little taste of the wild.
