“Repeat of Average”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Our last 2 outings to this restaurant have regrettably been average experiences. Our party of 8 have left disappointed and have felt overcharged for our meal and experience. it is a shame because it is a beautiful setting and the service is good compared to elsewhere in Gaborone the bad service capital of the world. But it has just felt that you get a plate of food put down in front of you that has no extra flare, no attention to detail not even so much as a garnish to show for an above average costing plate of food. Our chicken schnitzels were dry and tough practically cardboard in fact, sad considering this used to be their forte. Anyway it will be a while before we return, considering there are now many more options fro eating out in Gabs. Although generally it is not long before the standards start slipping at these establishments too.

“GREAT AFRICAN VIBE EXPERIENCE”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

On Trip Advisor Mokolodi is number 2 in Gaborone out of 50 restaurants, to be honest I found the dining experience in Gaborone lacking. I certainly did enjoy the vibe at Mokolodi Restaurant as I dined on the terrace overlooking the reserve and near to the terrace are strategically placed watering holes so as the sun dipped the buck came out to drink and fascinating to dine and to watch the animals eat, of special excitement on this particular night was the arrival of a very large Kudu, with a great spread of horns arrived at the back of the restaurant and made his way through the terrace to jump over the wall at the terrace, apparently this was only the second time it had happened, I was so surprised that forgot to take a shot. However I digress as I was there to eat, one would have thought that the steak in Botswana would be value for money but my main course of a 300gm rump with the Mokolodi sauce came in at R128 excluding the sauce. Enjoyable, but not as tender as I was hoping for. Starter of Calamari at around R52 was okay but not outstanding. Found the waiters to be attentive but I was eating early and it was not that full. As mentioned the African experience was outstanding with a magnificent sunset but do not expect a fine dining experience. Total bill for one came to R251 excluding tip and included one beer and a glass of wine. When I am back in I will eat here again.

“Mokolodi Restaurant”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Whilst working in Gabarone for a couple of months I visited the restaurant a few times with colleagues. It is a very short drive from Gabarone. In addition to the restaurant they have a little shop - personally was not that impressed with it. You can also go on a game drive - again from a personal perspective was a bit disappointing. It is a fairly big restaurant with places inside as well as under a thatched roof with some seating outside under umbrellas. The service at the restaurant was always good and I really enjoyed the food (the beef is excellent). As it gets extremely hot I would recommed the seating inside or under the thatched roof (you still have a view of the bush). Never went for late afternoon cocktails, but I believe it is quite good as well.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review. Customer feedback is very important to us. The shop and game drives are not affiliated to the restaurant, we are a seperate enterprise. I hope you will join us for cocktails soon, There is a new bar now, a great place to enjoy sun downers. We have also built a clay pizza oven, so you can sample a pizza, and are planning to introduce a tapas menu.

“Tranqual Game reserve restaurant setting”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

A game reserve just 15 minutes drive outside Gaberone where you can relax, view the game whilst enjoying the best menue setting we had the weekend. I ordered the handmade pasta as it was only going to be a snack and eventually reordered another plate as it was so fresh, well prepared and tasty. Everone enjoyed their food, no matter what was ordered as every dish was great. All I can say is, EXCELLENT!! Worth every penny.
