The hotels facilities are very nice although 2 of the 4 restautants are still not open. The food genreally of a poor standard, On 4 different occasion i had to send the food back as it was cold. Having to pay for your room when you arrive at the Hotel is a very rude approach. I would like to see vast improvements for the Hotel

Epic hotel offers expensive high end accommodation in a great location but check in, card authorisation and checking out was traumatic for several during my stay. 3 items on the bill were nothing to do with me. Pre authorisation of 400 us dollars per day plus 500 for extras makes a denT in your credit so be warned

The hotel public areas are not quite finished yet but everything is neat and tidy.

Staff are very friendly but service is far for 5-star, I guess this will come with time.

The pool area is a fantastic escape from the busy city and has views of Luanda bay.

Beware of the prices: a coffee and 1.5-litres of water by the pool came to USD21. In the Skyna and Baia hotels it is USD10-11. Maybe those prices will be justified once the hotel is finished and the service is world class 5-star but at the moment it deserves an average.

Having stayed at other hotels in the city, it makes a nice change to get an interrupted nights sleep, constant hot water and no power failures. It is expensive, what isnt in Luanda's business circles and lets hope new competition brings the price down. Good sized rooms that are well appointed with very comfortable beds, great bathroom/shower area and good working area. Room cleaned daily with plenty of fresh towels. Mini bar well stocked but expensive. Currently limited dining options as recently opened, but breakfast excellent and bar food good. Staff I came across all spoke good to reasonable English and service throughout was excellent. Good location, 10 to 15 mins from airport outside of rush hours, which isnt an issue for the BA flight passengers arriving early / departing late. Swimming pool great. Top floor restaurant will be a popular spot when it opens. Room in quoted in dollars but taken in euro?

Room Tip: double beds are huge.

The hotel markets itself as a 5 star hotel. As of my stay, I would rate it a solid 4 stars, with the potential for 5. The hotel is still in the process of the soft opening as many of the public areas were not open yet (only one restaurant is open of the 5 or 6 planned, the spa is not open, the fitness center is not open). Some good and bad points listed below:

Good - The hard product. It is a brand new hotel and has a great ambience. Rooms are nice and comfortable, overall public spaces are very nice, fitness center is large with much equipment, although not open yet. Pool area was also great. The pool is not huge, but offers a decent amount of seating and great views of the harbour.

Good - Reception staff are very nice, friendly, and helpful. They all speak English too, which for a 5 star hotel marketing itself to business travellers, is a must. Pool staff were also very nice.

Good - Breakfast Buffet. Included in the room price, food display, taste, and quality was top notch.

Bad - Housekeeping's understanding of certain things. I had a "Do not disturb" sign hung on my door for 2 days and on each day housekeeping ignored the sign and went in to clean my room. While I give them credit for doing their jobs well, I was not happy at the interuption or privacy. What is the point of that sign if housekeeping does not know what it means?

Bad - TV channel choices. This was the first metropolis luxury hotel that I stayed in that did not have news channels on the TV. Just 6 channels of random programming to include Biography Channel, NatGeo, MTV, Trailers, and Smash Hits. For a hotel like this, they should at least have CNN, BBC World News, and or Al Jazeera News.

Bad - Restaurant Staff language skills. As I mentioned earlier, as a marketed 5 star hotel, staff should speak English. Only the restaurant manager spoke English, which made it difficult when asking for things. That being said, the staff were all friendly and hard working.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel. You will have a comfortable stay. There is much room for improvement to get to international 5 star levels but I think they are on the right track. BTW, Luanda is one of the most expensive cities in the world. A soda costs USD8.00 at this hotel and a bag of chips USD9.00. Expect to pay extravegant prices.

Stayed at the Epic Sana in Luanda on a recent business trip based on local recommendations. Though expensive - like most things in Luanda - I thought it was very good. Good rooms, service oriented staff, excellent location, reasonable wifi throughout, reasonable food. I'd definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Epic Sana during a business trip and I was told that the hotel is the best in Luanda - I have only seen one other hotel but this hotel definitely has it all: nice room, comfortable beds, great bathroom and good food. Pool area is nice too - with comfortable lounge chairs and good towels. Luanda as a city can be quite tiring but the Epic Sana is an oasis to return to.
