“Geological delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013

Its a magnificent site - a geological wonder. The formation of falls and the gorge is classic textbook stuff. Aside from the fact that millions of litres of water are pouring over a 2km wide precipice. Standing there you get this incredible sense of the rhythm of nature and just how minute humankind is relation to this natural wonder.

“Need to pick your time of year.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

I went to Vic Falls in September which meant that I could really see the structure and colour of the rock base of the Falls but the drama of the high waters and the masses of mist was missing.

I guess people who go in high water get the opposite experience with the drama but none of the views so not sure which would be best.

I'd been sucked in to going to compare it with Iguasu in South America and have to say, whilst it was a great weekend and very beautiful, Iguasu won hands down so if you're in the vicinity (I was staying in Jo'burg so a short flight for a weekend away) then it was well worth the trip but if you're flying long haul, make sure it's part of a bigger adventure and not the reason for the trip.

“Come on, it is a natural wonder!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

Wander the paths along the falls, let the mist wrap around you, and then go stand on the edge of the cliffs to get an even better sense of the sheer size of Victoria Falls.
It did cost $20-25 per person to get in which seems rather steep considering there isn't really much for facilities, but it is Victoria Falls! Buy the ticket and go feel the thunder... and keep a dry cloth to wipe down your camera lens so you don't end up with pictures full of water spots!
