Ilala Hotel
Spotty free wifi
Bathroom needs upgrade
Two faucets on the wash basin for separate hot and cold water, cannot mix, not sure for what purpose

Breakfast good
Lunch, not too much choices, but good. Go for the crocodile kebab
Small hotel but very private place

The noise from the helicopter flying every few minutes spoil the nice ambience of the dining area. Also the noise from transport trucks along the highway near the hotel.

We stayed here for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the extreme convenience of being just minutes from the Falls. The hotel is very comfortable, beautiful pool and grounds. The rooms are very nice. We had dinner one night and it was quite good. Definitely a very nice stay over-all.

We stayed here for three nights and found it to be an excellent place from which to explore the area. We only dined in the hotel once but that was because we had other places to visit.

Our room on the ground floor was very a comfortable and the service we received from all the staff was excellent. The ladies in the travel office were particularly helpful.

Remember to go to the historic Victoria Falls bridge and watch the adrenalin junkies,

Tip for future visitors: buy a double entry visa at the airport and use this to make a day trip to Zambia and also view the Falls from that side as well. On the Zambian side you can pay for Park entry in USD but if you want to walk a bit further and have a hotel lunch, then convert some money to the local currency at the Park entry gate where they provide the facility.

The stay was really nice! The rooms are very nice and clean! Service is great, the restaurant is amazing!
You are at the falls in less than 10 mins walking. However there are many people who try to sell you stuff, but they leave you when after telling them that you wont buy anything a few times. Sometimes it can get annoying, but it is never dangerous.
However you should avoid going there by night, but the park of the falls is closing in the early evening anyway.
You can plan adventures from an office at the hotel. We did it the day we arrived for activities the day after, so you don't have to plan anything beforehand.

Room Tip: We saw the cheaper rooms in the lower floors and suites in the 1st and 2nd floor. Actually we prefer...

We stayed here for two nights. The location is wonderful for access to the village and to the falls. We took advantage of the pool, enjoyed breakfast buffet, and lunch. The rooms were comfortable and unlike a few neighboring hotels, the size of this property (35 rooms or so) made the experience feel special.

We stayed three nights at the Lodge and really enjoyed it. Our room was on the ground floor, nice and normal size, with garden access/view. Common areas such as restaurant, reception, pool and bar are great, with a a beautiful view of the spray of the falls. Do not miss to get up just before sunrise to look at the early morning spray, it is spectacluar (at least at this time of the year, when water levels are high). You can also hear the falls.
Staff in general is very nice, with special credit going to the ladies of the tour desk, who are super friendly and super helpful. Only small negative: Restaurant staff is making it very clear that they expect tips for everything, including a self-service breakfast buffet (although breakfast was included, waiters bring you an invoice with the explanation that it is only for giving tips, either by charging it to the room or giving it in cash). Management would be well advised to address this and ask the waiters to tone it down a little bit. Tips should be earned, not demanded.
The location of the hotel is top notch, it takes approx. 15 minutes to walk to the falls or about 10 minutes to walk to shops and restaurants.
In summary, Ilala lodge is a great place, in a great location with very good staff, and we are looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have a garden view, where seeing animals such as warthogs is quite likely...

We stayed two nights at this hotel. The rooms are good- overlooking gardens where the warthogs come and graze regularly which we loved. Spray can be felt when you stand outside and the falls are just audible although it's about 20 minutes walk away.
The beds are comfortable and wifi worked well there. The bathrooms are good although look a bit dated, but everything works fine.
The staff are helpful and the breakfast was very good with lots of choice. It's a pity that the area around the shops is full of people harassing you to buy their wares - and everyone sells the same stuff. They put so much pressure on you that we ended up walking away from them.
Be mindful - this area is VERY expensive- everything is in dollars. We went white water rafting which was good fun but very overpriced.
The falls are terrific and a must visit as was the Victoria Falls hotel. Do go and have tea/coffee there and have a look around this wonderful old colonial hotel. Also go to Boma for dinner - excellent food and fun drumming

Room Tip: We were worried when we were taken downstairs to our room but it was actually on ground level and ab...
