First of all, rafting on the Zambezi River in Vic Falls is a MUST! It's the best river to raft, because it's safe (deep water, less chance to hit rocks) and the rapids are the craziest in the world! All rafting agencies in Victoria Falls offer exactly the same, so don't think about which agency to choose for too long. They all do the same route on the river and include a lunch. The boats of different agencies even work together down the river to make the experience as safe and fun as possible. My experience with Shockwave was great, they gave us a discount, while all other agencies didn't want to give a lower price than their fixed price of $140 dollar. Furthermore I think we had the best guide, who put our safety on the first place and at the same time was like a comedian on board! They called him MD. This was one of our best experiences so far and I recommend everybody to RAFT ON THE MIGHTY ZAMBEZI RIVER!

This is the only outfitter that does half-day trips. I am glad that we found them and were able to run the first half of the Zambezi rapids (1-10) before leaving Vic Falls.

Even tough we'd rafted at many other places worldwide this turned out to be our favorite experience - perhaps rivaled by Devil's Pool. We went with another, older couple - that as first-timers were a bit apprehensive - and they ending up loving it as well, and couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. Our guide Mr. Wilson was a good balance of focus on security and engaging friendliness. We also enjoyed the camera guy, Snake, and were very pleased with the end product, the can't-pass-up video. Definitely worth the extra money. Kudos to Gideon too, a good orientator and safety kayaker. Liberty and Pride were helpful guide newbies that did a fine job of keeping us afloat and alive.

Likes: A very unique view of the falls that helps you appreciate its power in full; a beautiful canyon trip; fantastic rapids (mostly IV and V class); helpful TA messages from their admin team prior to arrival in Vic Falls; able to fit this into our packed yet limited-time schedule; accommodating our last-minute trip request; competent and nice team; keeping us safe yet being flexible to let us enjoy as desired (e.g. jump out of the boat on request); pick-up/drop-off at B&B.

Dislike: the much-more-grueling and tiring than advertised climb down prior to launch, and, particularly, out of the gorge at the end. Painful but all part of the experience and certainly worthwhile.

The staff is very experienced and is committed to keeping every one safe. Before each rapid the tactical challenge was discussed including where to swim to if you fell over board. There were solo guide kayakers who would pick up the lucky ones who fell in the wonderful water and bring them back to the boat. The clomb out of the canyon is steep and hot. Have a good breakfast before you go so toy will have energy left for this part of your trip. you do not have to be an experienced rafter to go on this trip. although we had nine to 11 Grade V rapids I would have rated some of those as a 4.5.
Great fun, wonderful water temperature and very soft water due to the tannins.
