its just the place to relax beside the pool for a nice book after having breakfast.
the food was real good at any point of time, although it was a bit crowded yet they didn't keep you hungry :)
the guys at the bar are really friendly and always had the right music to put the whole group in the mood.
theirs an old pool table around beside the bar, enjoy your drink as you play (winners keeps playing till they are beaten up).
great place for kids too, planning to take my wife and daughter next time I travel this year.

Chose Shoestrings because we were on a budget. The private rooms seemed overpriced given their condition so we went for the dorm - which was fine for the price. (Bring your bug spray: not all dorm beds had mosquito nets).

The commons area were spacious and the wifi, although not free, worked well.

Also has a pool, restaurant and activities desk.

There are three bathrooms for the dorm rooms to share, which seemed sufficient even though one of the three didn't properly lock.

If you're a light sleeper, be warned, this seemed to be the place to be after 9pm and the loud bar music goes strong till God knows when (we went to bed close to midnight - music was still bumpin').

Would have liked the guest kitchen to be a bit cleaner and better stocked too.

All that being said, it's a chill place and you can manage your needs there.

went there with a few friends and found it to have a great atmosphere, very relaxed and often had live music come and play at the bar, all activities easily accessible from the area. the rooms were good for how cheap they were and the bar similarly so!

We spent new years 2014 here.
It's a real back packer vibe. But for the younger adventurous travellers, it's great fun though. Walking distance from town.

When we arrived it was extremely packed and all that was left were the campsite, which was really, just any spot you feel like using.

Zimbabwe in general is expensive, considering the dollar to the rand, but they are reasonable.

Not a bad stay, would go again.

The accomodation were somewhat well, clean, aircon working, hot water on the shower.

The socialization was its high point. There's a great commom area with a bar and an outside kitchen where they prepare awesome and affordable food.

We stayed for 2 days and I think it was enough. We were able to spend a full day on the Vic Falls park, which is very very beautiful and even crossed the border to Zambia (nothing to do there, at least one more stamp on the passport).

On the streets the only bad thing was that street sellera would do anything to convince you to buy something from them. It really bothered us for some times. If you're willimh to buy anything, either on the streets or inside stores, try to bargain as much as you can, speacially souveniers and handcract stuff. We could buy almost everything for 1/3 of the original price.

I didn't do the bungee but I saw some people doing and it seemed great and safe, so if you like adrenalyne just go for it!

Back to the lodge, one of the highest points was to meet Dexter. He's a zimbabwean guy who pratically lives there and builds awesome mini-world-village! Take some time to hear his story!

We did not stay here but we did enjoy the bar, the drinks, the service and again the great bartender! It was a good night and would highly recommend everyone to stop by for some after dinner drinks and fun!

Room Tip: hit the bar!

We spent a few days in Shoestring lodge at Vic Falls. We (two students) were searching for cheap accommodation, which is very complex issue at Vic Falls. However, we succeded in Shoestring Lodge...

I recomend this lodge especially to young travellers, students and so on. I met a lot of them there from all over the world. There is perfect evening entertainment, music bar, dance place, outdoor and indoor seatings, open grill and pizza fire. Everything well-designed just for the level of this lodge, little bit like in "hippies 60' ". If you are a "life-long hippie" or an "alternative" or just a common student of theology, you will welcome this place very much. Even "ordinary people" will be connected to the atmosphere and gain a nice experience.

The lodge is situated in walking distance from the city centre, some 10-15 minutes, which is very satisfying (considering the price and place). The place of situation is quite calm, however, due to "evening-life" of this lodge it is a little bit noisy for almost whole night.

The price is very nice. For a dorm you pay 10 USD for night (consider that normal price for bed in camp in in Vic Falls is round 30 USD, or a lodge round 50-60 USD). I consider it to be very promising for young people.

The rooms are clean, even the dorms are nice. It is very simple kind of accommodation, however I think you would not be disappointed. Water is not trinkable (the same as elsewhere), however suitable for boiling.

The kitchen is full-equipped, you can use "common dish". The toilets are on average, nothing special, no shock. Most of the cabins are regularly equipped with toilet paper (which is gladsome, especially in case of tropical diarrhea).

The service is nice, as well. People are helpful and kind. And the kind of guest make a good atmosphere of this place, indeed.

Good accommodation, good price, good service. What shall we want more?

Room Tip: Dorms are somehow quiter than rooms, for they are situated outside the main house with bar place. E...
