Thank you to African Fusion Travel in Cape Town who booked this AMAZING holiday for my family.
The Steam Train trip was also great fun.

This is a very nice hotel located at Zambezi river in about 5 km from the town. Such location is great as it helps avoiding hassle of the locals. In proximity from our room we could often see many warthogs which are a good alternative to lawn-mowers, they do not pay any attention to the tourists and keep eating the grass all the time. The rooms with all facilities look brand new. Mosquito nets can be helpful as there are some mosquitos closer to the evening. The sunset river cruises and lion encounters organised by the hotel are lovely, although one should be prepared for delays at pick-ups from the hotel (up to 30 mins). The meals at the hotel are OK, warthog steaks are very nice. The staff are friendly. The falls are fantastic.

Dear SergeiV Yes indeed it is a warthog hotel the animals are all over the hotel gardens feeding on the lawn, we also call them our lawn-mowers because they do the job perfectly.

Thank you so much for taking time to review our hotel, we greatly appreciate. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

Best Regards,

Victoria Falls is a beautiful place. The hotel rooms are newly renovated and there is nothing to complaint when staying in them. The rooms are new, very clean ( just bathtub could be cleaned up sometimes), everything is working...water, no problem with warm water, TV, perfect insect screens, air condition system. The hotel rooms have a nice view to river Zambezi. I guess the restaurant was forgotten during the hotel renovation, though. The meal was not good, the breakfast very acceptable, though. There is nothing around the hotel, but the hotel offers shuttle bus to the town. There is nothing special in the town, too. I did not feel good in Zimbabwe, everything is very overpriced for tourists, services are more than horrible. Do not stay in a queue with more than two persons unless you want to stay there half an hour. The worst experience was with the airport which is in my view not eligible to service international flights at all. All state officers are extremelly unfriendly. Zimbabwe does not want tourists... That is what I will remember. Nevertheless the review is about the lodge, that is why my valuation is high.

I enjoyed my stay at A'Zambezi Lodge. Booked room in second row. No river or pool view, but still got a nice balcony. In the evening an elephant visited the lodge and fed on flower bed just 20 metres away from me. Awesome sighting. Buffet in evening and morning offers great choice. Evening entertainment with local music and dancers. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is bit out of town. Enjoyed quiet atmosphere, nice pool, hotel next to river. Perfect spot to chill and relax. Activity centre organise boat cruise, transfers, heli flips and so on.

We really enjoyed our stay at A'Zambezi. The room was comfortable and clean as well as nicely appointed. Our room had a balcony so we could sit outside and relax in privacy while waiting for our next tour. The room has a mosquito net that pulls fully around the beds and the staff come in at night and spray down the room and prepare the nets. We found it comfortable and were not bothered by mosquitoes at all. The air conditioning in the room was a godsend as it was quite hot during our stay.

We found the food to be expensive but it was good. The warthog was excellent!!!!! Every evening there was a selection of meat to choose from and the chef fries it up in your presence. The meals are buffet style. The only complaint we have is that our waitress forgot to get us to sign the beverage slip (you sign a separate slip for meals and for beverages, depending on what you've prepaid) and she phoned our room very late at night and woke us up. Then she delivered the slip to our room and my husband had to get up to sign it.

We liked the location. It didn't matter to us that we were the last on the shuttle to go on the river cruise.

Our recent stay at A'Zambezi River Lodge was not impressive. The rooms had recently been renovated and were very modern, but small. Our biggest issue was with constantly having to kill numerous mosquitoes, spiders and flies in the room. There was mosquito netting, but it was on a track and there were gaps at the top where mosquitoes could join you in the evening and night.

The hotel grounds were pretty - right on the Zambezi River. There was a nice pool area and always plenty of wildlife on the grounds (vervet monkeys that like to steal items off the dinner tables, warthogs and even 2 hippos next to the pool one night).

The buffet breakfast (which was included) was nice, but we were not impressed with the restaurant onsite. The food was mediocre at best and the prices were high. The best meal we had while at the lodge was room service. The wait staff service at the restaurant was not very good.

Another consideration is if you plan to enjoy the various activities offered in Victoria Falls (seeing the falls, elephant rides, helicopter rides, walking with the lions, whitewater rafting, etc), you may want to consider a hotel closer to town. A'Zambezi appeared to be the furtherest hotel out and you would have to be the first one on the activity bus and the last one off. You tended to spend a good portion of the time away from the lodge running between hotels (that we were told were very nice to stay at) picking up or dropping off other activity guests. 'The tour company buses/vans sometimes had air conditioning and other times there would be no air conditioning and temperatures near 100 degrees.

Room Tip: Request a second floor room in the front building facing the river.

My partner and I stayed at the A'zambezi Lodge and completely enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect-right on the banks of the Zambezi River and just a short taxi ride to the town and the Falls. The amenities were excellent. It was renovated in 2011 and really shines. The pool was a refreshing way to spend the very hot afternoons when we weren't out exploring. The wildlife on the property was as added bonus. Vervet monkeys and warthogs are always around. (A very bad monkey stole my orange juice!) One evening housekeeping came to do our turn-down service;and to advise us to look out our slider if we wanted to see the 2 hippos that had just come out of the river to graze!
The breakfast buffet was very good. A nice omelet station, cereals, muffins etc. We had lunch by the pool once-excellent hamburger!
The staff, without exception, was excellent. Every person we encountered was welcoming and interested in how we were enjoying our stay. Joseph, who handled our luggage, was lovely and made sure we were happy throughout the 3 days we were there.
The price was more than we would normally spend. It was a birthday trip, so we splurged, and we feel it was a great value for the money. Free wifi, complimentary shuttle to town and the Falls were added perqs.
Thanks everyone, we hope to see you again in the future!
