“Mushe sterek”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

For those of you who don't know Zimblish 'Mushe Sterek' means outstanding. I recently took a group of five to Gorges and we had a superb stay, thanks to Debz and team for making the trip really worthwhile. I add that I have been conducting safaris for over 20years and the attention to detail and personal service of this camp was among the best I have witnessed in Africa.

Room Tip: Fitness center involves walking to the bottom of the gorge each day, will definately help cardio.

You took such care of our elderly Mum, in a fantastic setting Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and you arranged a special diet for her. We had a very special time together and it meant so much to us all. So a big thank you to all the staff at Gorges. It is a magic place, a real piece of paradise.

Room Tip: Just ask the staff, they are so helpful in sorting out your requirements.

This place was amazing and very unique in Vic Falls. It's only a small lodge and therefore feels very homely and welcoming. The service was faultless. The staff made us feel most welcome and were always on hand to help. Food and drink was very reasonable, even the fully stocked minibar. Our first night we were treated to a traditional dance that was more exciting and authentic than any I have seen. The lodge may be 30-40 mins from town but they offer transport to suit your plans and are very helpful with any changes you may need. Plus the drive out there takes you through truly African rural villages which you do not get anywhere else in Vic Falls.

We can't recommend this enough.

Hi Jimmy - thanks for this great review. We're very happy the two of you enjoyed your stay with us. Of course you are right the fact that we are outside of Vic Falls town is actually an advantage, our guests can experience a little more reality and still get spoiled by our staff. When next you are in the Falls please come and visit again - best wishes from the Gorges team and all of us at Imvelo Safari Lodges.

My partner and I had 5 nights at Gorges Lodge. The lodge is a half hr drive from Vic Falls town, and the view from our verandas, bar, restaurant was outstanding. We had transfers to our activities or town each day with no effort. The best thing about Gorges Lodge however was the fantastic people who work there. The barmen Beza and Phineus, Zeripa in the restaurant along with, (sorry his name escapes me at the moment) and Pepsi and Beatrice organising things. The managers Chris and Deb have a great team to work with. I would choose to stay there again anytime.

I stayed for six peaceful nights as part of the Taita Falcon survey team. Driving away from Victoria Falls initially made me believe we were getting away from luxury. It turned out however to be the exact opposite as the gorges is the most luxurious lodge i have ever been to and to add to that is the pristine natural environment sarrounding the set up. The birdlife, Augur Buzzards and Black Eagles and more, is amazing and can be easily viewed from the bar and restaurant.

Room Tip: i doubt if one would be disappointed with any of the rooms offerd at the lodge.

Dear Innocent,

Dear Innocent,

Thank you for the 5 star rating in all the categories! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us during your raptor survey of the gorge and are especially glad you appreciated the pristine and untouched area the lodge is situated in.

The birdlife that nest in the gorge, and that can be viewed from the lodge, is astounding and we always get a thrill when guests can experience these things firsthand, as you clearly did. The black eagles doing a high speed fly by past the breakfast table in the mornings is one of our favourites!

Thanks again for your glowing review.

We stayed 7 nights at Gorges in July 2013, using the lodge as a base for our survey of raptors along the Batoka Gorge. We were warmly welcomed by the gracious Beatrice on our arrival, and from then until our early morning departure, we experienced outstanding, friendly and well-informed service throughout our visit. We had to drag ourselves away from the lodge each day that we worked in different areas of the gorge, and thoroughly enjoyed the little time we spent lounging at our very comfortable chalets, drinking in the incredible views and spectacular birdlife. Can't recommend this venue highly enough! Andrew J.

We were privileged to have been able to host you and the rest of your team whilst you were carrying out your raptor survey in the gorge. Many thanks for your kind and thoughtful comments about the staff at the lodge, I will be sure to pass them along.

It sure sounds like you found the view and settings at Gorges as spectacular as we do – do come and stay with us again so that we may have the honour of calling you a regular!

Gorges and Little Gorges is a mere 30 minute drive from Victoria Falls town and offers a unique Victoria Falls experience from a peaceful and idyllic base on the edge of the Batoka Gorge - a perfect choice for your Victoria Falls safari adventure! At Gorges you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria Falls town - our peaceful guest accommodation is nestled in a landscaped garden that makes walking to your room a joy, and our staff are renowned for their warm hospitality. Gorges is famous for its spectacular views, described by some as the best in southern Africa; whether you are enjoying a cup of coffee at sunrise on your private veranda or a cool refreshment by the pool at sunset, you will be constantly drawn to the stunning vistas provided by the Batoka Gorge and the rushing waters of the Zambezi River below. Little Gorges is perched on the edge of the Batoka Gorge next to main Gorges. This tented extension of Gorges overlooks the dramatic junction of the Dibu Dibu River and the Zambezi, where black eagles and lanner falcons nest in the sheer cliff faces. Construction of the luxury tents in this rugged, rocky and broken terrain necessitated careful planning and feats of engineering and is a wonderful alternative to the main Gorges chalets while still providing all the same comforts. ... more   less
