We recently returned from our trip to Zimbabwe. The highlight of our trip was the ending... seeing amazing Victoria Falls and staying at the breathtaking Gorges Lodge!

The view from and the originality of the lodge are second to none. You feel like you are suspended from thin air as you sit back and enjoy a glass of wine at the bar. Similarly, you can relax on your own private balcony from your room and listen to the calming Zambezi River 800 feet below you. Incredible!

The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and willing to accommodate you with any need, and do it with a smile! The food was very good... portion sizes very large, and the service was first class!

It is a short 10 minute drive to the town of Victoria Falls, so you get the best of both worlds!

I highly recommend Gorges Lodge and hope I am lucky enough to stay there again someday!

We ended our trip at Gorges Lodge. It was by far the most spectacular place to stay. I will make a trip back and stay there for weeks. The first night we got there I sat for hours in the main area/bar with my feet up enjoying their wonderful lemongrass drink (ask for that the second you get there) and fried chips that taste like french fries; I stared at the breathtaking view and listened to the river water. It made my trip.

The servers were so nice and polite and always had big smiles. They really did go out of their way to make you feel as comfortable as possible. All the food was delicious and the portion sizes are huge. In the morning they have all types of food and juices waiting for you. You can order hot items too like eggs, bacon, sausage, etc..

I am not much of a gardener because I hate putting in the time it takes to make a garden pretty. They put in overtime with their landscaping/gardening!! The landscaping is so incredible and well designed it is amazing.

The rooms are very nice and cleaned every day. They have two story lodges and one story lodges. The beds are very comfy and it was the best sleep I got on the trip. They keep the fridge stocked with chocolate goodies, water, beer (try Castle a delicious South African beer) and the prices aren't ridiculous like most hotels.

Gorges Lodge is not directly in Vic Falls so it is perfectly quiet and relaxing. The trip to Vic Falls is about 10 minutes away. You cannot ask for a better hotel setup. It is truly a one of kind hotel and experience. Trust me STAY THERE if you are planning a trip to Victoria Falls.

We just returned from Zimbabwe, and spent our last two nights in Victoria Falls at the Gorges Lodge. The Lodge is built on the cliffs over looking the Zambezi River. The rooms are very private with your own balcony on the edge of the cliff. The sound of the river flowing below is very relaxing when sitting on your balcony. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help you with anything you need. Everything about the Gorges Lodge is breath taking. I have already recommended it to a friend thinking of coming to Victoria Falls.

Hi Brandi, thank you so much for recommending us to your friend. Our staff tries very hard to ensure our clients have the best stay possible and it’s always nice to be able to show them peoples compliments from trip advisor. The Gorges staff would love to show your friend the same standard hospitality in the future. We’re always looking to improve on the lodge and a large refurbishment is currently underway. Hopefully you’ll visit us again one day as I’m sure you’ll enjoy your stay as much the second time around as you did the first.

We have just returned to earth with a bump after 4 relaxing days at this most stunning of settings. We used this as R&R at the end of a full on safari and I am so glad we did it was the icing on the cake of our African adventure. Like others we had reservations about staying in Zimbabwe, but this part of the country does not appear to have the troubles of elsewhere. We had stayed on the Zambian side for two nights but found the town of Vic Falls to be far more attractive and quieter than Livingstone and the lodge, which is a bumpy (well typically African!) 1/2 hour ride from town to be a haven. What made it so great?.. Attentive staff, clean and spacious cottages, silence, stars, wholesome home cooked food, bar at the edge of the world, million dollar scenery, lovely gardens, a great hike down to the bottom of the gorge, lizards, butterflies, birds, squirrels and giant millipedes (cool!) and having the place completely to ourselves for 3 of the 4 nights! Would go back again without hesitation.

Hi hasbeeneverywhere, we’re so happy you had such a memorable stay. Building a lodge 202m up on the edge of the Zambezi Gorge was quite a feat but its comments like yours that make us realize it was worth every bit of effort. We pride ourselves on having one of the most unique locations in Africa, waking up to the soothing sound of the white water rushing by down below in the gorges is a lovely way to start your day. We hope to see you again in the future for another R&R vacation!

My girlfriend and I spent 7 nights at Gorges Lodge during December 2011. During our stay we also experienced what the rest of the area had to offer and Gorges, from a complete package, had the most to offer, the best value and a view that dreams are made of. Set well off the beaten path, Gorges is quiet and the rooms are tidy. There is every amenity you would ever need, a great bar with well educated and friendly staff. The meals are well prepared, and although not 5 star quality, they are homely meals and they fill you up. The view from the bar is insane, as you sit on the Zimbabwe side of the river, looking across at Zambia. Staying at Gorges allows to escape the hustle of Victoria Falls town. As part of the package, they took us to and from town once a day and we were able to do all the great tourist activities whenever we felt like it. Our hosts were gracious and a village tour was the highlight of our trip. Zimbabwe is a special place and we will visit again and again.
