“Great stay after the airport”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2014

We spent two nights at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge booked by Lion Tours. We had a room overlooking the lake where animals came to drink. We saw elephants, impala, warthogs while we were there. You could also see the lake from the bar, restaurant, and outdoor patio.

The room was comfortable and I loved being able to enjoy the balcony and views. We could watch vultures drying their wings in the trees in addition to the other animals at the lake.

Breakfast overlooking the lake was a treat as well as the one delicious dinner we had there.

The first drinks we had allowed us to watch a herd of elephants below us.

Great stay.

We stayed for 2 nights and there is nothing we did not enjoy. The view from our balcony was spectacular. The Bar and Restaurant had a great views as well and whilst having a glass of wine we looked out for animals and spotted warthogs and elephants. Food was delicious. Staff is very helpful and attentive.

Lion World chose wisely when they included this resort in our vacation package. The room was smaller than we had grown accustomed to in South Africa, but the view of the bush was awesome. How often can you sit on your balcony and watch a family of elephants? It was fun waiting to see what sort of wildlife would appear at the waterhole during meals, although as a party of two, we found we could never secure one of the (quite open) tables along the railing, as all were set up for 4 people only. Enjoyed walking around the grounds...never knew when you'd happen upon the warthogs. The shuttle service to/from town was much appreciated. Nice to be so close to the falls and the Zambezi river for our tours. Great end to our Lion World trip!

Myself and my boyfriend had such an amazing stay here for 3 nights. The view was spectacular from our balcony and while eating our dinner on the 1st night we spotted Elephants and hyenas. The food was delicious. Staff were very helpful also. Hope to be back in the future.

Loved this place hope to return. The multi level decks offer stunning views of the sunset, animals and more. Food was excellent and having a drink on the deck at sunset was wonderful. The pool is small but surounded by tropical plants. The warthogs wander the grounds and are fun to watch. The staff is very attentive and rooms are lovely. The vulture feeding at 1 pm every day is exciting. Hundreds of birds gather in the trees awaiting dinner. Where else can you be so close to nature. If you are looking for a different experience but with all the amenities this is the place.

Room Tip: pick a room that allows you to see the watering hole from your private porch.

The hotel has multi-level dining overlooking a watering pools where you can enjoy visits of nyala, kudo, warthogs, baboons and elephants. The pools also overlook this wonderful vista. The food is great, the staff very helpful with the exception of making change. Take lots of dollars with you in small denominations to tip the staff.

Hotel took very good care of my sister and I. We especially enjoyed the BOMA dinner (did not think it too expensive)- trying new foods and the very good staff. Hotel shuttle was very helpful and easy.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 20 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 22nd year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst. ... more   less
