We spent 2 nights here with our American friends at the end of August and loved every minute. From watching the warthogs grazing on the lawn, to seeing elephant and buffalo drinking at the waterhole and hearing the hyenas whooping at night it was a magical experience. Our meals were world class. The service, helpfulness and friendliness of the staff were excellent. So proud of our home country.

We stayed here for two nights. From the monkeys and other animals alll over to the waterhole below the lodge this was fantastic. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The sighting of various animals from the rooms balcony was fantastic. When one can wake up and see all kinds of animals before 6am it is unbelievable. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. This seemed to be a trait of all the people of this country. The food was good. The breakfast was quite good snd the one dinner we ate was also nice.

Hi There. Thanks so much for your review. Yes, the waterhole very rarely disappoints in terms of animals and looks like you had some awesome sightings. The staff love their jobs, so the feeling is certainly mutual. Looking forward to your return.

We spent a week there in September. We've been a few times and as always, the experience was amazing for us. Such a beautiful and authentic bush setting. Unbelievable food at the Makuwakuwa Restaurant and at the Boma. Loved relaxing on the deck at the pool. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff.

Absolutely world class experience that we will not forget soon.

A great range of well-appointed accommodation catering for all price ranges. All staff very friendly and efficient. Zimbabweans trying very hard to re-establish themselves as a safe and friendly tourist destination. The team at the hotel could not be more helpful toward us and our guests. We had a group of 80 people staying with us and I did not hear one complaint. Well Done to Jonathan and the team there. Awesome views from hotel rooms, bar and pool deck. Many dining options in hotel grounds where the quality of food prepared was excellent. Will be back!

Victoria Falls was our first stop on a two week trip, in our opinion it is the best located hotel in Victoria Falls as all the other ones are right by the main road and The Safari Lodge is a two minute drive further away but is completely surrounded by bush, animals and the amazing view.
We had a suite and it was two floors and huge! Beautiful comfy four poster with views of the watering hole from the bedroom and downstairs lounge where there were sofas, chairs and a mini bar as well as the balcony and view! They had left champagne and a card in our room as we were on honeymoon which was a nice touch.
We walked the falls which is well worth doing as they are magnificent. We did a lion encounter which was fantastic and highly recommended - you don't get many opportunities in your life to walk through the bush with wild lions! We cruised up the zambezi at sunset which was beautiful and we ate in the main Safari Lodge restaurant and the Boma. In the restaurant you get a fantastic, gently floodlit view of the watering hole where we saw hyena, elephants, impala and a lot of birds particularly Maribou Stalks and Vultures. The Boma is an experience not to be missed, it's a huge BBQ where they dress you up, paint your face (it's only a tiny bit!), teach you to play the bongos and before you know it you're up in the middle of a circle of people dancing like you've never danced before - hilarious! And the food is excellent!
It was a great way to start our trip, easing us into African life and culture and a good place to start to train your eye in for wildlife spotting!
In our opinion it's the best place to stay in Vic Falls.

Room Tip: The Lodge has views of the watering hole the Safari Club doesn't!

Beautiful setting. Room was fine as was the cleanliness and service. However, after traveling around other parts of Africa we found this area as a whole to be overpriced for the quality and luxury that was offered in comparison to other areas. One small example...$12 for a bottle of water at dinner?
I should note that it was a luxury vacation set up by a travel agent and we were willing to spend top dollar. it just didn't match up to other places visited in the same trip.

Hi there in Italy. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.

With regards to the bottled water situation:
From time we do have to resort to importing bottled water and other products, when local goods are in short supply, and unfortunately attract heavy import duties and tax.

We sincerely apologise for that, and at all times strive to offer value and choice, whilst supporting local producers where ever possible.

Here is our usual bottled water price list:

$5 – for 1.5lt still
$3 – 500ml still
$4 – Canned sparkling
$8 – 1lt sparkling – out of stock

We try our best to provide excellent value for money and the majority of our feedback reflects this. We price our lodge as competitively as possible, and believe that we provide some of the best accommodation and bush experiences in Vic Falls and Zim. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any further questions.

This hotel is located a few k's outside of the main settlement however the view from the bar which overlooks a watering hole is amazing. At dusk the animals (including buffalo, elephants, giraffe's, warthogs etc) come to get their nightly drink (which is what you are doing ironically) and you can watch them as a hungry croc lurks aroundiin the water trying to get his dinner!

The location is not a problem as the hotel offers regular shuttles into town and the hotel also has a booking office that can organise all of your activities.

The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff are very friendly. There is also a boma (buffet of all sorts of meats etc) restaurant next door which serves great food and also has dancing etc to keep people entertaind.

thoroughly recommended.

Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 20 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 22nd year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst. ... more   less
