“Great stay!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Really enjoyed our stay at Vic Falls Safari Lodge! Beautiful outlook over the water hole, despite not that many animals. Lovely room; very comfortable and peaceful. Staff were exceptional - extremely friendly and helpful. Restaurant/bar area was lovely, and food very good - even room service! Would have liked access to the bar area menu for dinner - the Buffalo Burger was the best! I really liked not having a TV in our room, but access in the TV room, as it didn't detract from our location, but some may not find that a selling point! One minor criticism regarding WIFI was the hassle of having to re-enter the code and password every time. It wasn't expensive though - one $5 card each did us for 5 days of checking emails and basic chores. Despite being a bit out of town the shuttle service was great and that was never a problem - only an advantage really! Overall think it was the pick of Vic Falls hotels - would definitely stay there again and no hesitation recommending it.

Hello Judy. I think that out of 350+ reviews you are the first to mention our mouth-watering Buffalo Burgers, a real lodge signature dish. This has delighted our chef. We're also really pleased you commented that, in such a tranquil natural world environment, TV's in the rooms would be out if place and that you recognised this as the true benefit it is designed to be. Beautiful views....friendly staff - these are the traits that are common to see in Trip Advisor reviews a d that all our guests really love. Jonathan Hudson Resort General Manager. gm@ saflodge.co.zw

We stayed here for one night on 25th May at the end of a 2 week road trip through Namibia and Botswana. We had a split level suite with a view of the watering hole which was marvelous. Dinner in the restaurant was also of high quality and the staff were friendly and helpful. Not cheap but well worth the money if you fancy some luxury.

Well not really. You actually share monkeys. Leave your rooms locked or they come in & steal anything. Creamers sugar packets etc.
Monkeys & a water hole, what more does one need. The water hole had lots of activity during our stay.Only place we saw vultures during our time in Africa.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the water hole.

Glad you took delight at your natural world surroundings and that the ever opportunistic monkeys provided some fun. They can be pesky but we don't contrive the environment here - it's pristine nature at its best and your enjoyment is evident from your review. Jonathan Hudson. Resort Geberal Nanager. Our stay was more than exceptionally wonderful. We went with a deed that had to be done - sprinkling of my Mom's ashes. It was a trip we were dreading. But the hospitality and everything else that came with staying at Safari Lodge - was SIMPLY AWESOME and AMAZING. On our return to Vic Falls - Safari Lodge will most definitely be our choice of accommodation. Boma was an absolute treat as well. Connections to and from Vic Falls were also exceptionally good.

Room Tip: All rooms - as far as i could see - appeared to have a wonderful view of natural Africa and wild lif...

We arrived at the Safari Lodge and were given such a warm welcome by David who was dressed in full African regalia! a wonderful smile and a genuine welcome! the room was huge, cool, authentically furnished and had a balcony which overlooked the water hole... unfortunately we did not see any significant animals, but it was lovely to look out and see the bush ... and nothing else to distract the beautiful view and the quiet! the food was excellent in the restaurant, the staff helpful and friendly and the gift shop not too expensive!!! We had a wonderful time at the Boma, which was in the hotel grounds.. definitely worth booking up for and the variety of food fantastic! the African dancers were wonderful.. I thought the drumming at the end a bit contrived but on the whole, it was a unique experience... we rated the Vic Falls Safari Lodge the best hotel in the area! we would go back again! Hello Val & Melvin. What a pity the animals did not oblige during your stay at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, but we're delighted you savored that magical view nevertheless. As you say, no man-made object to distract the eye to a distant horizon - pure Africa at its sublime best!

We who live here are fortunate to see a constant parade of animals on many days and sometimes there are literally hundreds of elephants and buffalo at the waterhole at the same time. What a way to dine...enjoy a cold beer around the pool...or indeed just to look out of my office window. Now THAT'S distracting! Thank you for rating us as the best hotel in the area - we work hard to earn that pedigree and reviews such as yours inspire us to try even harder.

As soon as we met our lovely driver Stephen, pulled up to the Safari lodge and checked in we knew we had picked the right place to stay. All the staff were always friendly and happy to help, front desk can be a bit of a nightmare as staff are easily distracted and information doesn’t always get passed on. The restaurant ‘Makuwakuwa’ staff still need a bit of a shaking up as service varies from waiter to waiter it would be great if it was uniform, and I found the service a tad slow sometimes. The spectacular view of the watering hole right on your door step as well as the quality of the food served in the restaurant always made up for the slow service, LOL. Generally service was good but it good be exceptional.
We had a superior room and a lovely view of the watering hole that attracted elephants, buffalo, kudu, impala and the wandering warthogs not forgetting the guinea fowl. The room also offered spectacular views of the sunset. The shuttle bus on the hour was very handy for getting out and about the small town and getting to the falls.
Although the lodge is quite big, it still had that personal touch, it still felt nice and cosy, the regular chats with the hotel manager and Fatima one of the bar staff always made you feel like a valued customer. Our stay at the lodge was great should we go back to Victoria or when we go back it will definitely be toss-up between the Victoria Falls Safari Club and the Elephant Camp. But without a doubt The Safari Lodge would be top on my list and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Keep up the good work guys and a few touch ups here and there and you’ll be top of your game.

Thank you for your comprehensive, honest warts-and-all but very encouraging review of your stay at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. We are in the middle of a new bout of intensive staff training and have taken on board your comment on front desk where a new system is to be instigated. All our waiters come from our local community and we give them a chance to uplift their families, so we're a way from superior first-world service, but training is improving this aspect enormously and their warmth and friendliness make up for so much...as does that remarkable view of the waterhole and African wilderness, our real usp in the whole area.

Driver Stephen sends greetings and is pleased as punch to have been mentioned in dispatches - such recognition inspires him and the rest of the team. It's a critical little touch point with our guests and Stephen has played his role grandly.
