we had a nice time and enjoyed the rooms. They are a little dated, however I think this as good as it gets in the area. Internet is expensive to use and doesn't work very well.

On 30 november 2011 we arived at VFSL for our wedding later that day. Living in SA, all planning was left to Janice and her team. Lloyd keeping our glasses filled, Janice organizing and Martin always with a smile at reception. This was an absolute amazing day and a fantastic holiday with it.
Drinks were always cold, friendly people all around and fancy food, thats what you get at Victoria Falls safari Lodge. We will be back:)

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but even better if you can get a top room. From there you can see far out over...

We arrived at the lodge 30 November 2011 (for 3 nights), prior to this arrangements were made telephonically and via email for our wedding. The wedding was executed according to plan and turned out even better than expectations!!!!

From day 1 ALL staff we came in contact with were extremely friendly and helpful!!! They assisted in arranging the wedding of our dreams!!! The room was clean, food was great and the beers were cold! Services offered like the shuttle into town made sight-seeing much easier.

The boma dinner was very fun and interactive with the entertaining drummers! A wide variety of different game and African dishes available cooked to perfection. (the mopani worms were great)

The water hole offered a great view while sitting on the deck or at the bar. Although there were not animals drinking all the time (which also happens in the Kruger National Park) we saw elephant, buffalo, warthog, impala, kudu and a lot of bird life!!!

With everything said an amazing stay and we will be back!!!!!!!!
(only tip is the drinks are rather pricey but I dont know how this compares to the other lodges in the area)

Janice hats off to you, Martin, Lloyd and the rest of the VFSL team!!!

This hotel is situated on a hilltop a few miles out of town. It has it's own water hole and extensive grounds. Food is fine and rooms nice with AC.

Note that the caption picture is wrong. Address shown is mailbox not site.

Room Tip: Best rooms have waterhole view.

We spent 3 nights here in November, 2011. We found it overall to be a nice experience. The front desk changed our room to a more desirable location for viewing the waterhole. Not that there was that much to see. It does offer the opportunity to see what happens over time at a place that animals might visit, which is something you don't get on most game drives.

I loved my experience here. Yes, there were some bugs in my room, but it's the bush, what do you expect?? I was in room 8 and had a great view of the watering hole. The bed was comfortable and there is something cool about sleeping under mosquito netting. I didn't even realize there wasnt a tv in the room until the third day, there was so much to do. I met my main man Lovemore, the bartender, who couldn't love a guy with a name like that.
The only thing that doesn't make this a five star resort is that you have to pay for bottled water if you order one from the bar and I felt that the menu couuld have been expanded more, although what I did eat (the warthog and breem) was fantastic. They know tourists can't drink the tap water so make the bottled water complimentary. There were a couple of bottles in the room, but it was hot and being gone all day, I wanted some for the road.
Overall a great experience, but just shy of a five star for the reasons mentioned

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 20 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 22nd year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst. ... more   less
