“A Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

We were booked into this hotel as part of a tour group. The staff was very courteous and well trained in customer service. The room was nicer than we expected, and the AC quite effective. The bed was comfortable enough and housekeeping was excellent. A complimentary bottle of water (which could also be heated in a hot pot for tea or instant coffee) was much appreciated. Breakfast was included in our stay and had a decent variety of foods, even a chef that would cook you a custom omelette. Pretty pool, but a bit chilly. The poolside wet and dry bar was attractive, but a bit understaffed before dinner. The room was nice and quiet. Our only concern was with dinner service: a large table of us was served a la carte, but two gentlemen had still not received their dinner as most of us were nearly finished. When I politely approached staff about it, I was graciously assured the "situation would be rectified immediately", and it was. On the previous night, an entree described as being baked in phyllo dough came out wrapped in a tortilla instead, but was flavorful. Close enough to the city center to walk, though a good part of it is through dirt. Another nice perk: they accepted our left-over Botswanan Poula as payment for our tab upon check out, which saved us the step of having to exchange it back to dollars elsewhere. :)

Room Tip: The lowest numbered rooms are in a separate building behind the pool, which had a decent garden view...

This was a very nice hotel close to the falls and the city centre. Pool and breakfast very good. Nice and friendly staff. Wifi (not to fast) near pool and central area. I was also in the Elephant Hills hotel, 5* but 10 minute drive out of the centre. I preferred the Rainbow. No taxi needed.

Typical colonial hotel that maybe used to be good, but lacks proper maintenance and a good management that pays attention to client's needs. I see that they take the time to respond to reviews here: they would do better spending that time on managing the hotel properly. That would really be rendering a service to their clients.

We stayed two nights here at the end of a tour overland, we'd been camping for nearly three weeks. First night was part of a package from the tour operator, we had booked an extra night.
Upon arrival, rooms were "not available" because of an overbooking problem, we would have to check in into another hotel for one night and then change back to Rainbow again. Our group (24 people!) preferred to stay in one and the same hotel for two consecutive nights and asked for another solution and a conversation with the hotel manager.

Our guide had to convince the manager that he should talk to us, his clients, himself, instead of letting the guide (who had nothing to do with the unavailability of the rooms) defend his bad management. Not really a sign of good client service, if you ask me... We waited for more than two hours outside in the tour truck, before we decided ourselves that we would sit down in the hotel - manager hadn't even proposed this to us.

After a while news came that they were going to "check out another group" and move them to the other hotel that had been proposed to us. However, we didn't seen anybody check out... Weird?

Once we got into our rooms (three and a half hours after our arrival), these were not well cleaned and made up. Dirt on the floor, hair in the bath thub, wrinkled sheets (probably not changed - yum!), broken off towel rack, curtains that don't close properly, ...
We knew that this is not the Hilton, so we didn't expect rosebuds on the bed and mints on our pillow. The rooms are worn down and not properly maintained, but that doesn't make it impossible to offer a clean room to your clients. We didn't even get that.

The day after, I ordered a snack in the afternoon and got sour vanilla ice cream. They even wanted us to pay for it.

This hotel has the potential of being a nice, relaxing hotel for the groups that come here after touring in Southern Africa. But to make that true, it needs to be better managed and maintained.

Our conclusion: never again. Feedback has been sent to the tour operator as well, I've been told they will be changing hotels.

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are amazing, all details are just perfect.

The hotel has also a very nice restaurant: the food is very good and not too expensive! Breakfast was also VERY good, I appreciated most of all the variety of fresh tropical fruit!

The staff was very helpful all the time, and very friendly. They also have agents that can book activities for you, who were very professional. The name of the agent that helped me is Janet, she was very kind and suggested me the right activities for my tastes.

The hotel has also animation of African music and dances at nights, which I warmly recommend.

Clean rooms, mammoth breakfast and the staff are so welcoming. The General Manager was walking around at breakfast in the restaurant to speak to his guests. Lovely views of the Falls spray from the roof terrace of the hotel. Housekeeping super efficient, would recommend after a 2 night stay.

The Rainbow Hotel which is a very nice hotel, it has a big garden around the pool. we stayed three nights enjoying the area and the close by attraction. room was comfort at a very good condition. breakfast was a very good breakfast, we took one lunch, it was reasonable as the menu was a little limited.
the overall service was very good.
at this phase we already returnee our rented car so we used taxis, as it is not very comfort to reach the hotel by walking (not very central located).
bottom line: it was comfort to enjoy all attraction from the hotel and it defiantly was value for money

I stayed here two nights this July. The staff were super friendly, the food reasonably priced and tasty, excellent wifi speed. The rooms are clean, the grounds also well kept. It is conveniently located right next to the city centre, making it easier to walk almost anyway, yet within the premises there is a calm country side atmosphere, with lots of trees, occasional animals and an amazing pool.
