“A very comfortable stay...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

* The hotel is a little old but big and very comfortable...
* The staff is very helpful and very kind...
* The breakfast is very expensive! 27 usd per person and honestly they don't offer an amazing buffet...also, there's no option to choose from the menu, just buffet. But you need to check well in you hotel confirmation because at least, hotel.com included our buffet for the 4 days we stayed there (the problem is that I didn't check since the begining and they were charging the 27usd).
* In Zimbabwe, they accept dollars everywhere, so don't buy rands.
* There is a shuttle every 30 minutes from the hotel to downtown or wherever you need to go and it's free..they also can take you to victoria falls national park, so you don't need to hire a tour to do the walking tour..(you will need your passport at the entrance) don't forget to bring your poncho and you waterproof camera!! you will get wet because of the huge breeze!!
* Inside the victoria falls, you can see the Rainforest restaurant/cafe...it's delicious!!

Room Tip: Rooms with view to the parking area are very noisy..you can hear staff people talking at 2am!

The Elephant Hills is only let down by its slightly "tired" look. Nothing that cannot be fixed and enhanced by a good renovation which, by the way, would put this very special place right up there with the finest hotels. The setting is beautiful, all the amenities are there, it is spacious in every way, beautiful views, breathtaking scenery with a Gary Player designed 18 hole golf course and wildlife in abundance to boot. You do not have to be a golfer to enjoy this course!

Yes, the hotel is some 3km out of the centre of Victoria Falls, but they run a regular shuttle service (sweet and friendly driver) from early morning until about 17:30 in the afternoon which can be supplemented by a very reasonable and reliable taxi service (ours was Tomy's) also stationed at the hotel. Some of the excursions include transport to and from the hotel, I advise that you confirm this at the time of booking your excursion.

There are other options for dining out, but there is no need to do so as the quality and variety of food at the hotel is more than adequate and the service is excellent. Depending on the percentage of occupancy at the hotel, dinners could be quite festive and we were treated to live music. The marimba might not be to everyone's taste, but they do switch to a lighter mood with more popular music during the course of the evening.

When you arrive at the hotel, you are welcomed with a snow white lukewarm towel to wipe your grubby hands AND a most refreshing cold drink. This sets the tone for the warm and friendly service you will experience for the rest of your stay.

With time most memories fade away, but that first sunset witnessed from the pool area and the amazing staff of the Elephant Hills will be hard to erase!

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the 6th floor, 5th also good. I believe the rooms with views of the Victoria F...

Execeptionally friendly and helpful staff: quiet but cheerful. Beautiful grounds with lovely swimming pool. Clean and comfortable rooms with very basic amenities. Warthogs, buck and lots more wildlife on site - pity about those pesky baboons!

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the river or swimming pool, arther than the car park!

I was with a group of 20 from Malaysia.
We stayed 1 night, left for 1 night and came back again.
We wanted to leave our luggage at Elephant while we went to Chobe, this was absolutely no problem for the fantastic staff!
Such friendly service is hard to find.
Fantastic views towards Livingstone.
Only complaint is that the drinks are seriously expensive!

Room Tip: Choose a higher room, there is an indoor waterfall which can be noisy.

Our family spent three nights here. The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are very basic and have very few extras. Even though the room is very rudimentary, it is comfortable and spacious enough. The staff was friendly but not very helpful. I asked for help with a day trip and they could not help me. I asked the operator to connect me with my tour company and they couldn't do this either. It was difficult to get money changed and basically the service staff was very friendly but ineffective. All in all I would say that this resort is a little above average.

The hotel is an old lady, but not grand. The public spaces are clean and simpily appointed with a local flare of African decor you would expect. The rooms are three star at most but are clean. The bathrooms are small and the door hits the toilet on the way in. The air con works and the TV offers SKY and CNN which is really all you need. The hotel has a mix of tourists to see the falls (most of whom paid a lot of money for a package holiday) and conferences which makes for an interesting mix in the lobby. The food is okay, the drinks are better and wine selection courtesy of south Africa. The best part of the hotel is the views from the resto and bar. It is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink and watch the sun go down. I took a walk through the golf course at sundown with wildlife out in the open. Credit to the hotel staff for keeping their end up whilst the government does everything to frustrate business in this country. One only needs to look across the river at night to see the vibrancy of Zambia and compare it to the darkness on the Zimbabwe side -stark and best seen from the bar.

Overall, it is a 3 star experence with 4 star service. After three days you could quickly run out of things to do after the falls, game drive and river boat trip.

We didn't frequent this trip ourselves, but sent my wife's parents there for their 40th wedding anniversary which co-incided with her mom's birthday. We arranged extra special treatment through the travel agent, Wild Horizons. Wild Horizons did a sterling job in arranging all the activities for my in-laws. Everything ran smoothly and on time. The staff at Elephant Hills were amazing and they took a simple request of a fruit basket to a spectacular surprise level. They invited my in-laws to their own special private dinner with an exclusive waiter and an extra special dinner. They treated my mom-in-law to a cultural birthday song the next morning and topped it off with a cake and all the bells and whistles! My in-laws were treated as royalty and felt as such too. We hoped for a special experience for them, but were blown away at the time and effort both WH and EH did to make this an unforgettable experience for them. Their attentiveness and their follow-through topped all expectations. They really warmed our and the in-laws' hearts and made this trip more than what we even dreamed it could be.
