“My favorite stop during my entire African trip!”
Reviewed May 31, 2012

Wow. What an amazing view from both our hotel suite and the pub. We stayed in the deluxe suite which wasn't very deluxe but the view made it worth it. Plus, we were in Zimbabwe, Africa and I didn't have high expectations.

One of my favorite moments was getting up at 5AM for the elephant walk and just caught the sunrise over Victoria Falls.

The pool area was phenomenal and dead... It seemed like we were the only guests in the hotel at times.

We also arranged a tour program that would pick us up from our hotel and take us to where we needed to go. They were extremely accommodating and helped us pack in as much as possible over three days. Recommended activities are: River cruise, Victoria Falls (except just go by yourself and not the tour), Night Safari, Elephant ride, and white water rafting. I would not recommend the bungee or the zip line as they did not seem safe (they also didn't tell us about that women that had the accident there three days prior) - we found out afterwards.

Room Tip: Get the deluxe suites with views of the Zambezi river and Victoria Falls. Absolutely stunning.

I loved the hotel, its in an amazing location. But you can see it's going through a tough time. The golf course is in a bit of a sorry state, light bulbs out all over the place, the main sky light in reception is broken and covered with black plastic and masking tape(it has been this way for a while, not a temporary solution). The hotel even put up a temporary casino for us, really awesome, but there was NO-ONE there. No music either. I felt terrible, such a beautiful setting but just is not what it used to be. I hope something happens there soon.
On the plus side, the room was spacious and had an incredible view of the zambezi and grazing Elephants, breakfast was good, Bar prices were a bit steep, but not rediculous. We had dinner by the pool and the buffet selection was good and the food was decent.

An all round good experience, but not out of this world.

Might return, might not!

Room Tip: Try get a room with a falls view or Zambezi view, falls view first though.

I loved the exterior of the hotel, it is rustic, African designs all the way and it looks wonderful from the inside. We stayed in a standard room, but, the room was disappointing, especially given that the hotel is designed so lovely, with the famous Gary Player gold course just a small distance away, I have a feeling that it used to be the talk of the town when it opened. The bedroom linens could use an update, if not, then they should just decide to use plain white linen cause, it makes the room have a clean feeling. The rooms are spacious and some rooms are conjoined which makes it nice if you are travelling with other couples or friends. I enjoyed the pool, it was wonderful if you don't mind a small visit by local monkeys. All in all, we saw the magnificent falls, the place is beautiful.

Room Tip: Rooms that are facing the falls are beautiful.

This hotel set slightly out of Vic Falls (1.5km) is an absolute gem with magnificent views across the mighty Zambesi river and Zambia. To your right you can see the spray from the falls rising and when the sun is in a certain angle a magnificent rainbow appears!!
All of the staff are well trained and very courteous, they are there to help you in anything. The only downside was my wife had fish for her main course and did'nt find it at all nice. I had a lovely steak although the veg's could have been cooked for a bit longer. Breakfast was delightful. Our room on the 6th floor was very good and tastefully done in decor.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the top floor (6th Floor)

On my 21st birthday my husband took me to Victoria falls for the first time and we stayed in elephant hills hotel.the hotel and staff where great.we booked in their presidential suite and it was lovely with a jacuzzi in the room and a simulated huge waterfall by the passage that enhanced the feeling of being by the falls.the food was not so good,I'd suggest eating at the boma as it gives the ultimate African experience.the activities are quite fun,the helicopter tour and white water rafting are a must and of cause adrenalin junkies can try the bunji jumping.and another must is the sunset cruise it's so romantic and the sunset is beautiful.the only thing I'd warn on is that all these things are quite pricey especially the activities they are very pricey. As for the victoria falls as a destination it's magnificent .definately the tour of the rainforest and seeing the seven falls was the highlight of the trip.it surely is a seven wonder and everyone must take time in their life to experience that.i am well travelled but Victoria falls remains my favorite destination .and i would also recommend a game drive at the nearby hwange national park

Ok, it's a resort. But unless you want to spend the money to stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel, and if the falls are the reason you are town, it's a good option. Contrary to what others experienced, we found friendly staff and a clean place. We had to insist a bit that the extra bed was actually meant to be a bed rather than a matress on the floor, but again: you get what you pay for and Vic Falls is an expensive place.

Elephant Hills was good the 2 nights we stayed but I wouldn't want to stay any longer. Our first night had amazing views of the falls from the sixth floor but when we came back later in the week for our second night stay we were in on a lower level. It is quite a distance from Victoria Falls, however it is close to the helipad and cruises. We had a decent buffet breakfast both mornings, but we decided to have dinner in the restaurant one night and it was very bland. A word of warning also regarding the laundry service… IT COSTS A FORTUNE!! Maybe it is like this at all hotels but for people that have never ordered a laundry service before receiving a bill for US$130 was a bit overwhelming.

Having said all that, we still enjoyed staying at Elephant Hills. The staff were extremely helpful and the view stunning!
