“Good”
Reviewed November 19, 2011

This is an outdoor under a thatched roof place, part of a lodge. We were staying nearby, and wanted to try something other than the buffet at our hotel. They had a few veggie options for my hubby and I, another friend went with one of the game dishes. Food was good, tastey. There were a few televisions on placing international sports. A dog laid about. It was hot, but there were fans above and of course, we were out of the sun, so it worked for us.

“Fab Food, great setting”
Reviewed February 16, 2011

We ate at this place about five times, and loved it. The rolls and the burgers are fantastic, and washed down with Golden Pilsener, the perfect way to end a day of wandering about the Falls area.
If you are lucky, you will be there when they are having a braai. Possibly the best quality braai I've ever had, and that is saying something. Watch out for 'Camp', the resident pooch. He loves bits of fat and whatever else you can't eat.
The only drawback is the Matabele war dance guys who come along unbidden in the evening. Not only do they ruin half an hour of conversation, they expect to be paid for that service! Apart from that, we love this place!
In case you care, the restaurant is an extension of Illala Lodge, which is a VERY posh establishment just up the road. Dane, the chef, is very talented guy. He may even come out and talk to you about the food if you are lucky.

“good food, service could be better”
Reviewed May 29, 2010

I've always procrastinated dining at this restaurant, and decided to try it out with a couple of friends last night. after calling ahead, we arrived at 8pm, and had to sit at our table (after getting our own chairs from the fire-place) for 20mins without the waiters even acknowledging us, following which i had to go the bar myself to get our drinks, where the barman informed us a waiter will be with us shortly to take our order. when the waiter finally decided we had waited long enough (another 25mins), he came over to say the kitchen does not accept orders after 8.30pm, and there was "...nothing he could do"!!!
menus were presented only after we demanded to see the manager, and the food, when it came, was ok, though it did little to cover the poor service. great value for money, at an average of $15 for a meal. would certainly consider giving it another try, if management considers improving service attitude...
