My daughter and I loved walking with 2 young lions at the Lion Encounter. It was one of our favorite activities in our 2 week African vacation. It was amazing to join the lions as they roamed freely and unrestrained in the bush. The handlers were very knowledgeable and seemed to love their jobs. We could have spent the whole day there! Breakfast was also great as was the video they shared...which we of course had to buy. Don't miss this morning if you love lions!

Viewing lions from the safety of a Landy on safari is fabulous, but having the opportunity of walking with a juvenile lioness and cubs (a totally different perspective), was an awesome experience.

We took the early morning walk in a small group over a year ago, but it remains a memorable and unique experience in our travels.

Having the professional, knowledgeable and friendly guides to explain lion behaviour, their future conservation and protection whilst roaming through bush tracks and being able to touch, stroke and interact with them was a thrilling adventure.

The lions were very active and alert and you feel very privileged to be able to walk amongst them. We were also amazed with the climbing ability of the young lioness and at the course texture of their fur.

Plenty of photo opportunities to capture that special moment with lions.

As someone who works in the travel business, it's extremely hard to take attractions like Walking With The Lions seriously as anything but exploitation of animals for tourism profit.

After seven weeks travelling throughout parts of Africa (Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe) it's hard to convince me that such an attraction is nothing more than a cash grab in an industry that general thinks of profits before anything else.

Whether it's Elephant Back Rides in Angkor Wat (Cambodia) or Chiang Mai (Thailand), Camel Back Rides in Cairo (Egypt), Donkey Taxis in Santorini (Greece), Elephant Back Safaris in the Okavango Delta (Botswana), Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi (Thailand) or WALKING WITH THE LIONS in Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), it's always human exploitation of WILD animals for tourism gains!

Please, if your truly interested in seeing animals, please think twice about these types of attractions that exploit animals under the guise of conservation! Instead visit Wildlife Areas, Animal Reserves, National Parks, Breeding Centres or even your local Zoo before deciding to frolic with animals at these attractions. Or better yet, go on an expedition cruise in the polar regions or a safari in Africa and truly be apart of animal health and conservation!

Please do your research before you visit these types of attractions.

This is awesome. They tell you what to do and not do. The lions sure do like the belly rubs. LOL! There is a man that has a .458 rifle that is there for a last resort of protection if needed. The guides are also there to keep the lions on track. If they divert their attention to any one person, the guides will start yelling and dancing to divert them back on them. It is well worth doing!

The lion walk was incredible. Not only was it a once in a lifetime experience, your money goes to support the non-profit who manages the walks whose overall mission is to repopulate the depleting lion population in Africa. Good cause, amazing experience, don't miss the opportunity!

Must be 15+ years to attend for safety reasons so leave the kiddos at home for this one.
