Really nice place and super communal area to select the meat you want for your braii and watch it cook while you chat with others. I just didn't appreciate Mr Bean insisting on you listening to his views on Africa.

We spent a night at Shoestring, liked it for the party vibe, but decided to move around the corner to Vic Falls Backpackers and loved it. The owners are busy refurbishing the place. Its better value than Shoestring and more pleasant. Party at Shoestring, relax and have a good sleep in the lovely setting of VFBPers. Cant wait to come back.

The couple who runs the hostel are retired and take their time for a great welcome showing the place and explaining about town, restaurants and activities.
Every second night they offer a brai (bbq) and they have three varieties for breakfast. They have an office in town and are very helpful organising taxis, bungee jumps or boat cruises.

The backpackers has clean facilities, a swimming pool and is only open for residents. [whereas String Shoes backpackers has an open bar and is the party place that never sleeps - so you won't either]

Room Tip: They have simple rooms sharing the bathroom - unisex single showers and toilets or ensuite. both are...

We stayed in small lodges. One ensuite. Mosquito nets required. Didn't enjoy the rooms not being sealed from the bugs and critters of Zimbabwe. Owner pleased to help book activities. Just be careful not to take in a package of activities and start off by planning to pay for what you want to do. Package cheaper? Then take it! Gorge swing was great fun. Evening Braii was fun to meet fellow travellers. Camp fire. No Wifi available currently. Taxi only $3 into town. Food not good in town... use a hotel for evening meal. Pizza takeaway was delicious... although be prepared to wait.... Africa time!

Victoria Falls Backpackers is most certainly a place I'll visit again. Usually we just treat backpackers as somewhere to crash but staying here was almost like returning home every evening (as we were always asked how our day had been) and we enjoyed our time here just as much as we did visiting the attractions. Ian and Enoch are charming and pro-active hosts, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Spending time with two people who so obviously love what they do was really fantastic. They truly do want you to have a fab time and give you honest recommendations about things you'll enjoy (and a raised eyebrow when they hear of something you might not! Travellers note, if you don't like drumming and dancing, don't head for the Boma: Place of Eating! We had a narrow escape! Drummerdancers, however, would love it!) The garden is sublimely peaceful, the kitchen is a great place to meet people and we loved the shower-curtain-less shower in the Guinefowl room! It just made it all the more special not to have a shower curtain spoil the view of the magnificent tree outside. Do listen to Ian's recommendations: the vulture feeding at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge was a highlight, as was our meal there. Thanks to Ian for organising our activities and making dinner reservations. Can't wait to bring my family back here.

Room Tip: The Guinefowl room has a wonderful semi-open-air shower with a view of a tree - very unusual and spe...

We stayed at Vic Falls Backpackers for 4 nights and loved every minute. Ian, the manager, was extremely helpful, giving us advice and booking our numerous activities while we were still planning our trip (months before we arrived). Everything was very well organised once we arrived.

We booked a double room, which was of a usual backpacking standard and the grounds and pool area are nice. A very friendly atmosphere. I would happily stay here again as it was great value for money and a very positive experience.

Staff are happy to book tours and make suggestions and private suite with ensuite are good option for a bit of privacy , however the gunieafowl room could have done with a shower curtains.
