It really felt like a sanctuary after a hard days work in Harare. Very comfortable spacious room, with a VERY comfortable bed. Attention to detail. Little mementos like Zimbabwe's very own Belgian Chocolates on the pillow! The property is fantastic, the seemingly endless sloping lawn, a good-sized pool for a couple of laps in the morning, sundowners on the verandah. Attentive staff, good service, nice breakfast choices. And a very friendly host. I will never stay in another place again in Harare if I can avoid it.

Wavell House is a piece of heaven within Harare. We stayed at Wavell House for 4 nights while we attended a friends wedding. The rooms are modern and filled with high quality antiques. The executive rooms are a must! My husband and I sat on our patio watching the sunset with a glass of wine and wonderful guacamole and snacks. Electricity outages are common in Zimbabwe. Luckily Wavell House has a generator, so we didn't notice the outages for more than a few minutes. The yummy breakfasts are made to order using fresh ingredients from their garden. If you are in Harare you must stay at Wavell House.

Ros and her staff do a fantastic job of welcoming guests to this wonderful property. The facilities are top notch. I can strongly recommend this lodge for business and pleasure travelers. Twenty minutes to Harare international airport and not from downtown makes this an ideal location.

Room Tip: The detached cottages are spacious.

I look forward to being back for another extended stay at Wavell House - nicely appointed rooms, excellent food, and careful service. Kudos to Ros!

I don't remember the room number and it may not have been the "best" but it was definitely comfortable and spacious, and gave a feeling of privacy.

Room Tip: Although it doesn't have a fitness center, it has a great pool one can do laps in.

Last week I spent 3 nights at Wavell House with my wife as we were in town to attend a conference. From the moment we stepped into our room (Cottage 1) we knew we had made the right choice. There was a feeling of having our own private space - very spacious, with exceptional furnishings and a great sense of attention to detail. The service from the staff was very personal and sincere making this undoubtedly our new accommodation of choice while in Harare. The rambling well-kept grounds gave one a sense of ease and calm making it difficult to remember that we were literally minutes away from the CBD. There's a lot I could say but it suffices to say Ros has a good thing going here and we will most certainly be back (if we can get a booking :)).

Room Tip: Cottage 1 is excellent!

Once in a while you come across an owner run and managed establishment that has all the normal things we expect like clean well kept buildings, sparkling pool, manicured gardens, comfortable rooms, well presented food, but, then on top of that is a hidden extra that is hard to define... it's that tingle in the air, a heightening of senses that leaves you feeling pampered, some would call it atmosphere, whatever way you want to put it, Wavell House has it.
The place is very tastefully appointed with art, fabrics and furniture that come from Wavell House's sister companies owned and operated by Ros Byrne. So if you are taken with the feel of the place and you want to know more, studio tours can be arranged. You may want to bring an extra suitcase...
Wavell House, worth a visit but be warned you would do well to plan for a day or two extra because I dare say you will not want to leave.

It is also most useful to know that guests may appreciate other businesses and products affiliated with the lodge, which are of local interest. We are always happy to advise guests of our retail shop, located next to The Shop Cafe for a fine lunch.
