The service received and value for money is outstanding! The hotel booking was effortless, and everything was as requested upon my arrival. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and the food was excellent! I can not say enough good about this hotel! It is simply outstanding!

I stayed here for a business visit for a month, Being Indian, I like asian food, which was rare in this country. Although about the facilities, hospitability, it was way better in compare to the condition of country's economic. Staff was very friendly. Rooms are always clean. The best thing about the hotel was the pool on the 14th floor. The gym was beside it and the pool was always clean.
I stayed @ 9th floor and enjoed the view a lot.

Room Tip: Take a room with garden view...

Having stayed here numerous times i thought it would be beneficial to write a review. The service is amazing and it is definately the nicest hotel in Harare. Its central(although wouldnt recommend walking around at night) and still has class. A real colonial hotel. Lovely stay thank you!

Grand old style is perhaps what best describes Meikles. Perfectly located in city center, its probably still the best hotel in town and correct, but could use some investments and some service training. Staff is most pleasant and attentive but slow and not really up to modern standards. Lunch, dinner and check in/out take forever. The dining hall is positively from the 1970s with heavy red draperies and a piano man in the corner - but food is excellent and by African standards a great wine list. The gym is non-existant, the top floor pool not nice, whereas breakfast is fast and decent. Do avoid the elevators in the west wing as they are out of service (which could have merited a sign). Got stuck for 30 minutes with a waiter who fortunately had a phone, as the alarm did not work. Illustrates the improvement potential.

Overall - an OK stay but not luxurious and certainly nowhere near its potential - for which some money and training is required.

The Meikles Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe was a pleasant surprise. The hotel dates back to British colonial times, but provides modern convenineces like wi-fi to enhance your stay. The modern section of the property is undergoing a renovation made possible in part by the country's conversion to the US Dollar as the currency of the state. With a more stable money value, foreign guests can now visit Zimbabwe without threat of changing prices.

The hotel has a wonderful view of Africa Unity Square across the street with their flower vendors. A public park, it is maintained by the businesses that surround the square and appears to remain well kept.

The room's fernishings are a bit dated, but comfortable. AC kept the temperatures pleasant, and the bathroom was quite roomy. There are several restaurants in the complex, and room service is comparably priced to the restauarants.

Traveling across Harare is a bit challenging by foot. Public transportation is actully quite crowded and I would recommend taking a cab to most destinations - it is not that expensive and the cab drivers can share local information. Having said this, the people are very freindly and put you at ease.

The city shops close up at night, so there is not much outside the hotel to draw you into the city.

Room Tip: Not all Amerricans will adapt to local water filtration systems. It is best to avoid fresh fruit an...

Stayed here many times. Due to economic situation have them benefit of doubt with respect to poor room conditions etc. however with increased occupancy over the past 2 years evident by the number of people now roaming the hotel, it's sad they haven't upgraded rooms. This trip, the shower head fell on me twice!!! The air conditioning was non existent. They charging global rates but for a 2 star hotel. City needs a decent hotel to get these guys to attend to basic needs of guests

the air-condition very old fashion and very weak affect. but this hotel is the best in harare.
