“Improved a lot!”

What a difference from bad experience in October. Staff knew what they were doing, Internet had improved, elevators were working, all equipment in room worked great. It's come a long way in a short time. Now, if they could just do something about that $26.00 breakfast.

Room Tip: Back of hotel for quiet

This Holiday Inn was clean, and had great staff. The food options in the hotel were ok, but the hotel is close to many other options. The beds were a treat to a weary traveler. Cable TV and free WiFi. The business center also provided fast enough computers for a decent price.

Close to the Book Cafe, Nandos and PathFinder bus terminal.

Stayed there for only two nights but not much to complain about at all. Friendly staff, wonderful breakfast and beds to die for. We had such a good nights sleep in the Queen size bed. Just a few things to improve on, Wifi was mediocre as we couldn't get a good connection from our room on the 4th floor. There was also a bit of construction work going on at the time which we could hear early in the morning and it would have been nice if reception had told us about it when we checked in. However it was not so loud. Overall, good stay, we will return!

Room Tip: Ask for a queens size bed! So comfy!

Not much option left in Harare we took Holiday Inn. The management trys its best but it is Africa...do not expect more for high price. The hotel has good location, close to Road Port bus central and good access to the airport. We did not try the restaurant because Nandos's is just across the main road.

I visit my partner in Zim and as my flight doesn't usually arrive until later in the day stay overnight in Harare. HI is perfect location for me as Pathfinder bus terminal is just a block away and a 5 minute walk, usually stay at Rainbow Towers for Citylink but HI is half the price and just as comfortable.
Both rooms were decorated to a good standard and bathrooms, although a little dated, clean and all sundry bits and pieces supplied, decent choice on the TV and staff friendly & helpful - one lift was broken but not really the end of the world. Don't forget to ask for wifi voucher on check-in!
There is a 24hr service station across the road with the usual fast food options giving a cheaper alternative to the restaurant or the attached Spur. Didn't try room service, bar or food so can't comment on these, but Spur had the best ribs I've probably ever eaten.
Only slight negative I had was requested late check out on return stay as evening flight and couldn't do this on arrival, I had to go to reception following morning to see if possible, kind of defeats the object so stored bags for the day (free of charge) and went exploring instead.
Going back in September and already booked my room here.

Used their so-called Business Centre and the receptionist was sullen, the Internet speed a quarter of down town Internet cafes for four times the price and it was not even easy to get my mobile phone recharged. I would avoid as there are much nicer places for visitors in northern Harare an easy combi or taxi ride into town.

I stayed at the HI Harare for a business trip in April. Firstly the staff was extremely friendly and tried whenever to accommodate every request. Check-in was quick and easy. They are busy renovating the rooms and upgrading to LCD tv screens etc, but I stayed in the 4th floor and this was not revamped yet. My room was large enough and everything worked fine. The bed was comfortable. The internet was good, but worked on a voucher system limited to 100Megs - and when you run out it logs you off anf then back to reception for another voucher. If you go to guest relations however they will give you a 1 Gig voucher which works much better. Breakfast was a good spread of fruits, cereals and of course a full English breakfast. There is also a restaurant serving a buffewt, but at $26 is seemed expensive. I did use room service three times and the prices are not too bad, while the service and quality of the food was very good. If you are on a tight budget there is a 24 hour food court across from the hotel serving burgers, chicken and pizza in the $5 - $15 range. Drinks are also expensive at the HI, about $3 a beer and $6 a glass of wine, where you can get a full six-pack for about $6 at the local stores. At the bottom of the hotel is a Spur restaurant, but I did not visit it. They do not have a gym, but they have an agreement with another gym a few blocks away if yoou want to train there for free.
Definitely worth another visit when I am in Harare and I would recommend it.
