We had a great experience at the lovely Bronte Hotel in Harare. The atmosphere is relaxing with an old world charm. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and the gardens are beautiful. A quiet oasis in a busy metropolitan city.

I quarterly visit Harare on business and decided to try somewhere different this time around and looked to TA for a decent Hotel and came across the Bronte

On arrival late in the afternoon after work and was highly impressed by the beautiful grounds and having not eaten on the day i was assisted with a burger even thought the kitchen was not really open.

The room i stayed in looked good and had been recently renovated, the slightly antiquated furniture gave it an old school charm and on first glance the bathrooms looked neat and modern, there was a great view of the manicured gardens from the balcony
the WiFi was fantastic throughout the premises
Dinner that night wasn't too bad and the staff was very friendly and welcoming.I felt enthused to have found a decent place to stay while in Harare ...... But then things took a turn on my second day.

The day started with the WiFi not operational , i grabbed another one of the tickets with codes issued by reception and tried to access it again , but it was very unstable throughout the day, while showering the shower head decided to detach itself luckily not giving me concussion(the gentleman who serviced the room noticed it and said he would notify someone to repair it , but this didn't happen), Breakfast was on the other hand very good, a selection of a continental buffet as well as a plated full English was served.

After my days work i returned to the hotel and it seemed their were a few night crawlers looking for work within the premises, which for me is not acceptable for the caliber of hotel i was staying in and was highly unpleasant being approached by them while walking to my room.
Dinner at the Palms restaurant that evening was average and i unfortunately had to send my steak back a few times before being close to how i asked for it to be done
the same "night crawlers" were still hovering around the bar area blatantly approaching patrons and male guests.not making it a pleasant place to be.

Overall a very inconsistent experience , they have the potential to be great and hope they are able to rectify the minor issues.

Dear visZa

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our hotel. We are pleased that you were impressed with our beautiful gardens, recently renovated rooms and breakfast selection.

We note your concerns regarding erratic WIFI service, room maintenance and "night crawlers" in the garden and have passed this onto the relevant departments for corrective action to be taken. We encourage our guests to highlight any concerns during their stay so we can resolve any issues immediately. In future please do not hesitate to contact our management team or myself.

I hope you will give us an opportunity to change your first impression of our Hotel.

It was my first return visit to the Bronte Hotel in Harare after 40 years. It has been superbly renovated without losing any of its charm. In a garden city this is a garden hotel and despite the fact that many travellers now stay at "lodges" in the suburbs the Bronte is close to the main business district so very convenient for the government estate. Service is impeccable and comfort assured. There are cosy sitting areas inside and out where you can do business. Good work Bronte.

Relaxing, enjoyable setting from another era . Staff are curious and friendly. Food is fine. Prices are reasonable. Rooms are facilities are clean. Wifi works well. Physical plant needs some upgrading and better maintenance. Only complaints are shower head was stingy with water and a small fridge in room would be a big plus on warm days and nights. I recommend Bronte and give it a 3 plus.

We were staying nearby (the Bronte was second on our list of hotels which was down to our budget) and had dinner here on a couple of occasions with family and friends. All the meals were well cooked and there is a good variety of choice, although there is nothing particularly fancy being offered. Between us we tried quite a few different meals and you couldn't complain about anything. The portions are a good size and priced very reasonably. Service was, in the main, very good. If you are looking for somewhere to have a meal in nice surroundings, this is well worth considering.
From what else we saw of the hotel and the delightful grounds, I can imagine it would be a very nice place to stay as well.

I have visited with my girlfriend many different hotels in Zim and quite few in Harare but I have to say that Bronte is our favorite. Around Bronte is not advisable to walk during the night and therefore we have contacted a nice and friendly taxi driver, Nick, who has driven us throughout entire Harare upon very good bargaining (+263772627976).

Room Tip: Take a room towards the garden cos it is fresher

Rooms were spotlessly clean but neither of the deluxe rooms I stayed in had air con or mini fridge. There was a ceiling fan which was sufficient for me but a mini fridge would have made the stay perfect. If the expense of installing fridges in each room is beyond the hotel, then a communal ice machine and ice buckets in each room would suffice.
The gardens are amazing with a huge variety of bird life but the sun loungers around the pool need updating.
Breakfast was reasonable but because this hotel is mainly used by business people, you need to attend early or expect slim pickings! The scones (or biscuits) are particularly nice.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful and the cleaning staff were amazing, coming back later if I needed a lie in.
Listed as 4 * but expect the equivalent of a 3 star by UK standards...still, it's the nicest hotel you'll find in Harare.

Room Tip: I stayed in two rooms..Room 24 on the ground floor was nice (at the back of hotel) but the 2nd room...
