Description: Situated in the heart of the Northern Suburbs of Harare, Amanzi Restaurant is set well back from the road in 4 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. An old farmhouse, architucturally converted to a stylish modern restaurant. Amanzi has the capacity to seat 100 people. Amanzi offers it customers "fusion" cuisine. The decor is a sophisticated blend of interior styles created to form a backdrop for unusual collections of African antiquities and contemporary art. The water feature is stocked with koi carp, and is floodlit at night. The property is noted for its collection of indigenous trees, predominately msasa, and colourful shrubs, which provide a cool, restful atmosphere.

Situated off one of the main east-west arteries in Harare, Amanzi is well-situated to capture many residents of Zimbabwe's capital city. This is evident in Amanzi's clientele, either at dinner or on their famous Thursday night jams.
Amanzi's menu changes enough to remain interesting, but the prices are above and beyond. The inside and outdoor scene are excellent enough to at least off-set some of this sticker shock; the main building and patio are set inside a grotto-like tropical forest and most any seat offers a nice view during the day or at night.
Thursday nights a live band plays some sets, quite often some covers too, and the scene starts to heat up for 20-somethings through 60-somethings around ten o'clock and carries on for some hours. A word to the wise, when you make it to the bar, order everything you can and try not to go back. In typical Zimbabwean fashion, management has a disconnect with staff; up to three people can be madly dashing around behind the bar attempting to make one cocktail while a manager stares on in frustration. A cocktail can take 20-30 minutes once you actually reach the bar, so stick with beer and wine.

The menu was varied and the food was good. The garden was lovely for lunch and there was a nice fire in the fireplace the night I went in the evening. On mothers day, they bring the mothers flowers!

Although highly rated, our meal at Amanzi was average at best. Service was good and atmosphere was nice.

Delicious! The spicy Nigerian tomato soup is a must have starter. Great atmosphere for drinks after, with a live band playing every Thursday night, you can stay for hours!
