one of the beautiful mosque in north afirica It's deep on history. it was one of the best school in Tunisia. Her Ulamaa was known as progressist and open mind. it was one of the first bed of resistance against French colonisation

visited this mosque on our shopping trip in tunis, the mosque is very nice and beautiful, from the inside its really cool and pleasant once you step in from the sticky heat outside mainly coming from the over crowded markets. Was just abit dissapointed about the mosque not letting non-muslims in as this would of been great experience for non-muslims.

Disappointed not to be able to visit the Great Mosque which was closed to non-Muslim visitors during our stay. Reasons unknown.

The mosque is under restoration and therefore we were not able to see much. It is amazing to learn that this is the oldest mosque-university in Islamic world, older than Azhar University in Egypt. Even though it's under restoration, the mosque should be kept clean at all time. Some part is littered with with cats' droppings. They need donations for the restoration. Please give generously.
