“Beautiful Mosaics”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

the Bardo museum is well worth a visit. The building itself is an architectural dream and the mosaics are absolutely beautiful. This is one of the largest collections of roman mosaics in the world from all over Northern Africa. The staff are also very friendly taking time to point out the highlights of the museum

“Walking on History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

The Bardo Museum in Tunis is glorious. Light, spacious, cool and full of the most amazing collection of mosaics taken from Dougga, Carthage and many more ancient sites in Tunisia. You can walk along the corridors, treading on floor mosaics that normally would be sectioned off from the pounding of feet. The walls are adorned with images of food, battles, roman life and so much more. Some have the appearance of a tapestry that could be found in an English Mansion. Well worth a visit.

“Content iss great, fabric a little tired”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

this should be at the top of the list on any visit to Tunis / Carthage. There are hundreds of mosaics: roman, early christian and islamic. My particular favourite was Odysseus / Ulysses with the sirens but there are loads. Even on the floor ( not sure thats a good idea!) You could wizz round here in about an hour & a half if you just want to glance at the mosaics but longer (half a day) would be better and new exhibits seem to be being added all the while

“Great display of mosaics: a must do !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

This museum is located in a new very stylish building that is bright, open and has lots of light.

The mosaics are placed on several floors but there are lifts as well as stairs. All the exhibits are very good but some are spectacular. There are scenes involving animals and other scenes with geometric designs.

Take your time and look at all the exhibits as there are not many collections like this.

In my opinion it is worth the trip to Tunis just to see the collection.

“Museum nearly complete”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

The alterations and extensions to the museum appear to be complete but some of the exhibits are yet t be installed into their positions. The mosaics are out of this world and I did not realise that so many wonderful mosaics still existed. We attended The Bardo as part of a Carthage trip glad we did as the ruins at Carthage were more than disappointing for such an historically important site. The Bardo is a must for anyone in the area and they will be amazed at the variety, condition and the way that the mosaics are displayed. Good enough as is but will be even better when all of the exhibits are in place. An enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
