The conceirge staff at this hotel were the most helpful people we met in trying to arrange for a car and driver for tours. Through them we found an excellent car and english speaking driver at a very good price.

Right in the centre of town, it is within 10 minutes' walk from the train station and the Medina, and you can find everything on the Av Habib Bourguiba. The rooms are clean, the concierge helpful, the only complaint we have is that they only give us one small bottle of water for the two of us and then refuse to give anymore. But we can buy water very cheaplyon the street.

Another thing, we wanted to take a taxi, and the doorman led us to a bunch of taxi drivers, who demanded almost 5 times what the trip should have costed. Really stupid move, since the avenue was crawling with taxis charging by the meter. Just ignore them.

I don't think I need to elaborate on how perfect the location is. It is at the center of a city, about ten min walk to train station, ten min walk to medina, and ten min walk to TGM if Carthage is where you are thinking of visiting. It is a simple hotel, not a five star hotel with amenities you probably don't need. Wifi is decent if your room is close to the router but may be slow if it is a bit far. One side of the building does face a bar that can get loud at weekend nights. So ask for a room a bit far from that end. Unlike some other travelers experience, I do find breakfast fine. Not elaborate but more than enough to get one going for the day. Breakfast room is a bit chaotic at rush hour (8-9ish) but otherwise you do get enough varieties to eat. Room cleaning does require a bit more consistency and somewhat to be desired. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend living here.

Dear Chen W

Thank you for your accurate comments (so why did not we deserve a 4/5!? :) ).

Some additional information for your next trip:
-Breakfast has improved in 2018, we will still dramatically improve it in 2019, both in content and in rush hours management.
-Room cleaning is usually a strong point in our comments, we will certainly give it a second look, thank you for mentioning it.

So we really hope to see you back soon, and are pretty confident your rating will me less severe this time!

Thanks again for taking the time.

Regards

Perfect location 2 minutes from the beautiful medina of tunis. 20 minutes by cab from sidi bou said, la marsa and north of tunis.

Elegant façade. Very well decorated inside. My wife loved the elevator. Attention to detail is evident (deco, rooms, breakfast). Staff was very helpful. WE WILL DEFINETELY COME BACK !

My family and I stayed at the Carlton for six nights during our trip to Tunis. We came with relatively high expectations considering the positive reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed!

The staff is very friendly and professional, the rooms are clean and well exposed to sunlight, the breakfast is excellent, and the location is perfect - a 10min walk to most of Tunis' main sites. The city is bustling and full of life - after a full day of exploring we were always happy to touch base at the Carlton and felt like it was the perfect HQ for our trip. The hotel is full of artwork in the lobby, the elevators..not to mention the wonderful art nouveau façade.

This place is far better than 99% of 3-star hotels in the United States! Highly recommended for your next trip to Tunis.

PS: extra points for the strict non-smoking policy!
