I have been there for three nights.
The room service was not good, the sleeping stuff were dirty, and the heating system was terrible.
All the rooms are smokers', so you smell the Cigarette stench almost everywhere.
The wind whistles through the windows in many rooms.

El Hana International was bland, characterless, and not that good. The whole place feels very dated but the rooms were clean and tidy, though the buffet food uninspiring.

That said, there was nothing terrible about our stay and you could, I suspect, do worse.

I was just starting writing when I saw the review below from sjs1811..... who was one of our small group! So I will not repeat what she says, all of which I can confirm. Our rooms were supposedly in the "renovated area", but if these are renovated I hate to think what the others are like.

Just to add... some staff were constantly seeking tips. The guys on reception noted your problem...and then ignored it. Two of our group's rooms had significant floor level leaks whenever the shower was used - reports were ignored and I imagine they are leaking still. Someone knocked on my door at 04.45.. thanks a lot. Rooms at the front have nice views but are noisy. My air con did not work - not even worth reporting it. Generally unhelpful atmosphere, although some guys in the dining room were fine.

In many ways it is a shame - it is a good looking hotel, great city location, good bars at ground floor and on the roof. These were busy and good, although otherwise the hotel seemed largely empty. The food is poor for a major hotel chain. I can sympathise with a lack of money post-2010 to undertake renovations, but not with the attitude and the poor management of the place. They seem to be aiming at a different market to most Tunisian hotels, although I cannot imagine businessmen staying here often. Definitely one to avoid until ownership changes.

Room Tip: Use another hotel.

The hotel is central and the rooms are quite large, reception is well decorated and the roof bar is very nice with good views.

However..... our group experienced all of the following:
- unfriendly and unhelpful attitude of reception staff
- not enough towels in the room for the number of people checked into the room (i.e. two people but one towel)
- rooms not made up during the day and then when it was reported to reception, still not made up
- change desk not having any change, so being difficult about changing money (which is what they're there to do!)
- being told to put your valuables in the safe but not being able to because they didn't keys for the safes!
- only 1 lift out of 3 working reliably
- no plugs in the bathroom
- showers that wouldn't stay on the wall
- shower heads that didn't work
- poor food quality
- head waiter turning all the breakfast pastries over with his fingers....

So all in all rubbish - makes for good stories but I wouldn't recommend anyone stays there.

Cold/freazing rooms due to very old windows, unfriendly reception staff (we asked for blankets that never came, no information about anything was given), not specially clean (namely carpets and toilet) , terribly noisy at night but perfect location and good breakfast.
