Located away from the tourist attractions (a plus for me), the Ibis is a fairly new and modern business-class hotel that I found to be affordable and a perfect fit for my needs. I arrived early from the airport tired and looking for an early check-in. No rooms were available. The front desk offered up a smoking room and a key for me to examine the room before accepting. Upon entering the smoking room, I was repulsed by the odor and returned to the front desk to wait for an available non-smoking room. About two hours later, the receptionist found me, checked me in, and I was able to unpack, shower, and nap in a clean and well-maintained room.
WiFi is generally excellent. It's free, and except for peak hours in the evening, it is fast and allows one to access the Internet from multiple devices. I was staying at the time when Apple released Yosemite (OS X 10.10) along with a slew of other application updates. I was able to upgrade my OS and applications (running the updates overnight). The Yosemite download was 5.3 gb, something I would not have been able to do from my compound in Riyadh where I work.
Taxis are always available right outside the hotel door. Breakfasts cost extra and are okay and convenient.
All-in-all, I'm pleased with my choice of the Hotel Ibis during my stay in Tunis.
