What a great hotel to stay in in Tunis. Excellent service from all the staff. Good food. Very clean rooms. What more do you want for a city break.

Outstanding is a word that I seldom use but here it is appropriate. The rooms were well equipped and spotless. The cleaners, the reception staff, the waiters and the chef were all there to make our stay enjoyable and they succeeded. The owner is constantly available and helpful. In conversation he told me that he selects his staff carefully, trains them, insists on high standards and treats them like a family. This obviously pays off as they work like a team. His exchange rates were good and he arranged a wonderful day trip to two Roman sites, Thugga and Bulla Regis - a private car and guide, about 250 kms round trip: £64. There are 3 dishes on the menu that have to be ordered in advance: try them all.

I was traveling for business and the company booked me into another hotel which got awful reviews. I immediately booked here instead. I am so glad that I did especially given the comments from the others that stayed at the hotel I was originally booked into. I notified the hotel that I would be arriving on my birthday and they gifted me with a fruit bowl and some Tunisian sweets in my room. This was much appreciated after a long trip. The room was clean and nicely appointed. I loved the free internet connection and the breakfast was very nice. The shower had plenty of hot water and with sufficient pressure. I hate wimpy streams of water but this was good. The staff greeted me by my name and I felt quite special because of it. I have to commend the Directeur Mr. Lassaad Kefi and his staff for making me very welcome. I hope to stay there again.

I selected Le Consul because of its consistently positive reviews on Trip Adviser (and consistently mixed reviews for the alternatives) and wasn't at all disappointed. The hotel was exactly as promised, everything worked well and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and the hotel restaurant is open for evening meals, which are very good. I wouldn't hestitate to stay there again.

Lovely hotel. Do not let the neon signage disuade you. The photos of the exterior of the hotel had me a tad nervous prior to arrival.

The rooms are unbelivably clean, tidy and well organized. It is primarily a hotel for business travellers, but the staff made our family of 4 (with 2 little kids) feel very welcome.

The hotel is next door to Belvedere park, the only green space in Tunis we found. It's an easy walk through colourful, but still safe neighbourhoods, down to the Medina.

The staff is helpful -- whether it is providing a lift ot the airport, arranging for a car and driver to take you on a day trip outside Tunis (highly recommend exploring Dougga); going up to a major intersection to flag a bigger cab than the small ones that tend to be on the hotel's street; answering questions about the city or where to go; whatever they were great.

Breakfast at th hotel is delicious and plentiful. Supper at the hotel is also well prepared, albeit expensive relative to what you can find 1-2 blocks from the hotel.

If I were in Tunis again, I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. After touring around Tunisia, it was a delight to come back to Le Consul before our flight home.

One tip I read from another trip advisor reviewer was to bring a card from the hotel with you. This is a good idea. Not everyone knows where it is, but showing them the card gets you an immediate nod of comprehension.

The very personable owner of this well-run and smartly designed new hotel loves his work and does all he can to facilitate an enjoyable and productive stay for his guests in Tunis. He'll be there to greet you when you rise and you will see him having dinner with friends and colleagues in the hotel. As like tends to hire like, the staff is equally professional, attentive, and accommodating. I spent two weeks here for work. The 45 or so good sized rooms are very comfortable, absolutely quiet, impeccably clean, and everything works. Free internet in the room and lobby. Excellent breakfast and very good dinner with fresh fish and decent wine list. Gym on top floor, good taxi access. The owner has chosen for the hotel not to be in guides books as most people come as a result of word of mouth, and he does not like to disappoint. The only downside is that Tunis is polluted and its buses and vehicles need pollution converters.

We stayed at Le Consul for one night at the end of a two week trip to Tunisia, after finding it on Trip Advisor, and found it to be clean and comfortable. It's not particularly central but a taxi to the centre only cost around 3 TND. We thought that there wasn't a great choice of mid range hotels in Tunis and this was a real find.
