Great accommodations

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 14, 2018via mobile
It looks like a tent but it’s not. Its palatial inside with large beds a big shower with hot water and big ante room and 2 beds so it can sleep 4 adults. We felt we should have known that and we could have shared and cut our cost of staying into half. The sound of the thundershowers on the tent and the tropical warm rain and noises you can hear at night of the animals made it worth it! Embrace the lizards and small animals that skitter around and the food and chef are all lovely and obliging! Great laundry service too!

The staff at the Serengeti Mawe tent camp could not have been nicer and made us feel safe throughout our 2-night stay. Dinner was delicious! It was exciting to hear animals outside our tent at night and see the tell tale sign of fresh foot prints in the morning.

The Staffs are extremely amazing, delicious food, clean spacious tents. The camp is well located with the river crossing right in-front of the camp. It is more than a safari experience, it is a place where you can make genuine friends to give your stay the touch of life. I Highly Recommend

Room tip: Great view and Confortable

My group and I were at Mawe Tent Camp for 2 nights, 8-25/8-26/2018. I was all ready to give them a 5 star review until I got home and discovered I was robbed. It was a 10 day trip and Mawe Tent Camp was the only place we stayed 2 nights. I had forgotten that I brought my I-Pod with me and it was tucked away and zipped up in a pouch at the very bottom of my suit case. So that means these guys dug thru all my stuff to look for things of value! What is very disappointing is that we all went out of our way to tip them well before during and after our stay. I was not going to mention the following in my 5 star review had I not been robbed. The food while it was good, couple people from my group found flies and hair in their food. Thank goodness I took my cash, credit cards, and passport with me on my safari during the day. I know you might be thinking well, it's a 3rd world country. Theft is likely going to take place. But I still think it's worthwhile to write about it. Karma will bite them in the future!!!!

Room tip: Just remember you are working with dishonest staff, ready to rob you behind your back!!!

    Dear Cindy,
It saddens us to hear that you are suspecting Mawe camp staffs under reason that was the only place you stayed for two nights, sad enough we are all surprised to read it here, neither your ground tour operator nor our camp staffs are aware of this as this was never mentioned to them.
Just spoke with your Tour Operator and seems that there were some stuffs left at previous hotel you stayed before staying at our camp, it might worth checking with them if you left your ipod there
Incase of any further inquiry we are more than happy to go a further mile investigating your matter. You may contact me at your earliest convenience through info@serengeticamps.com or through your ground tour operator
    Regards

After a three night stay, I have been left entirely confused by this place, but in overall I would not recommend staying here and I am certain there are better places to stay nearby. I stayed for three nights, one night at the beginning of my safari and two at the end. My first night here was wonderful, my tent was closest to the main tent and was perfectly clean, the staff appeared very attentive the bed was comfortable etc. But my final two nights were the complete opposite. I was clearly in an old tent with muddy footprints stained into some of the ‘walls’, the toilet flush buttons looked mouldy, there were holes in my mosquito nets and in the actual tent itself! However the worst thing by far was that my tent was so noisy I did not sleep for the whole two nights. The noise came from what seemed to be the tent blowing in the wind, except there was next to no wind... The tent swayed back and forth, creaking and billowing and I actually thought it was going to fall down at one point. I went to find the whistle that they had provided in my first tent in case of emergencies (just in case) and found that this time I had no such whistle, aka no way of alerting someone in an emergency. I also had two incidents when I used my solar torch to notify staff that I wanted to move that weren’t noticed for a good 5 minutes... I am really baffled how this place could have gone from what felt like 4*+ lodging one day to 1* in just a matter of days. I hope Mawe can sort this out.

Visited the Serengeti with my daughter through Lunda Africa tours at this fantastic tent camp. Sunsets beyond belief and magical night skies. Nothing like a visiting herd of Cape Buffalos as neighbors! I gave it an excellent review with a suggestion to expand the menus. Truly a once in a lifetime experience to share with your daughter!!!
