Great food, even better staff

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 22, 2019
This was one of 4 places my family and I stayed during our safari. Although all of our accommodations were excellent, this one was the best. The food was amazing and the staff was so friendly and genuine.

We had a great stay at Tingitana Mara North camp! The staff is so friendly and helpfull. It is incredible how they manage to cook super tasty meals in this remote location, we really enjoyed it! On top of it all the complete staff sang and danced at diner for our 25 & 55 wedding anniversary. They made beautiful cakes with tekst. It was a great celebration and we Will not forgot our stay in this Nice camp.

Well-planned accommodation in the middle of nowhere. We stayed for three nights. It is rustic, which made the experience - there are no fences, so the wildlife get quite close. You can hear nearby hyenas and lions calling in the evenings at dinner time, and at night we occasionally wake up to zebras just outside our tent with their heavy hooves. Surreal!

The tents are roomy, clean and maintained. You get a hot shower after your drive, right before dinner. The food was good - as mentioned in other reviews, how they manage to cook 3-course meals in such a secluded place boggles the mind! We had some pretty tasty main courses. When it’s not wet, they start a campfire before dinner, where you can sit and chat with other guests and also the Maasai that help guard the camp.

On two of our evenings there were massive rains, which meant some waterlogged and muddy “patios” and communal areas, but the staff were quick to clean these places up in no time. We could tell they were struggling to deal with the deluge and mess, but they were always smiling and very apologetic! Big shoutout to Liza and Emmanuel (sorry if I spelt your names wrong) - Liza was always looking out for us with a permanent smile on his face, and Emmanuel was such a nice, friendly presence at the dining area. The Maasai who helped guard the place and walked us to our tents each night were also very friendly - English isn’t their first language but they tried their best to converse with us, and it was nice having chats and exchanging knowledge.

The place is amazing, but the staff brought it up a few notches and really made our stay. You’ve got a great team and should be proud of them!

We stayed in the Ndutu park at this wonderful camp with its beautiful tents and fantastic staff. The fire before dinner is so nice with a cold beer. It was valentines day and i thought i'd managed to pre-order some sparkling wine but unfortunately it hadn't made it to the camp. They said they would see what they could do but it was ok as the place is gorgeous anyway.

After the fire they made second small fire with a table just for us and they must have sent someone to one of the other camps as they managed to get us the wine. The guys came out dancing around our table singing the Jambo song before one of the guys popped open the wine which was totally amazing and surprising at the same time.

Still can't believe they went to so much effort to make our stay so memorable

This was the best stay during our safari. Spacious, well equipped tents, great environment and very friendly staff, with great service. There is a lot of space between the tents; in the tent wooden floors. We had one with a double bed, 2 singles and a ‘bathroom’ with toilet, sink and shower (you have to shower at an agreed time as the staff heats the water and brings that to the tent); electrical lights; small ‘porch’ with chairs and table in front of the tent. Before dinner, a campfire where all the guests could meet. Dinner was perfect. It’s amazing they can cook so well in a camp. No walking outside after dark, so walkie talkies were given to communicate with staff when needed. When we made our reservation we asked for a birthday cake as it would be our daughters’ birthday. And yes, a the end of dinner, the staff came singing and dancing with a self made birthday cake and candle! The singing and dancing continued outside and the other guests joined us in this wonderful and memorable celebration! I can highly recommend this camp: Great environment, great tents, great staff.

We stayed here for two nights during our Safari tour. What an experience to sleep in the middle of the bush. Beautiful clear skys with stars and the Milkyway while you are sitting at the campfire. Tents were comfortable and clean and good bed. Also taking a shower is possible but they have to poor water in from the outside. The food they serve is not any less than in a good restaurant. Amazing how they can prepare that in the bush. Staff is friendly and goes the extra mile for you to give you the perfect stay. When it is dark you will be escorted to and from your tent by Masaai people who will keep you safe. Was exceptional experience. Location is in Ndutu area where you can drive off road so also ultimate safari experience. We loved it.
