6 of us recently took a 10-day safari in Tanzania that included 4 major parks: Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. Each is different and has its own attractions, but our consensus was, if we had to choose one as our favorite, Serengeti wins hands down!
We spent 2 days and nights here, staying at Kati Kati Tented Camp (see my review), and if we were to return to Tanzania, we would stay a couple of days longer. It's a big place, and we didn't see it all. What a gorgeous place! And the wildlife! Expansive vistas to the horizon, lion prides, lines of wildebeests zigzagging as far as we could see, ostriches running on the plain, a hippo pool, stunning sunsets - it was a fantastic experience all around.
We didn't see it all (never made it to the Grumeti River for instance), but we saw a lot. Other highlights were a pair of hunting cheetahs stalking a herd of zebra and wildebeests, and a pride of lions chasing a leopard up a tree. Wow...
2 enthusiastic thumbs up!More
