“A Perfect Adder”

I can't say enough about this experience within our experience. It was amazing. We were picked up pre-dawn and watched and mingled while the balloons were inflated. We lifted off as the sun broke the horizon, and set the plain on fire with orange hues. Once in the air it is so peaceful. You move with the prevailing breeze so there is no sound of wind in your ears. We moved east, with 3 other balloons. We spotted a pride of 12 lions from the air, Hippos and other. Afterward there was the tradition Champagne survival celebration, followed by an amazing breakfast on the serengeti. The only reason I don't give it a 5 rating is the price. For us it was completely worth the price, no complaints whatsoever. I feel the price will limit some from an amazing experience. For example, a student traveling on a budget may not be able to pull this trip in. Must do if it fits your budget. If you are planning to go, try to get this in your budget if you can, you won't be disappointed.

“What a viuew”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Best time to take this ride is during the wildebeest migration. Heard and saw thousands of them.

Pilot and crew were extremeely safety aware, yet gave us great views of the plains and the wildlife.

Breakfast afterwards made a wonderful morning and start for a a safari day.

“A Trip Highlight”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

My daughter and I signed up for a Serengeti Balloon Safari as an extension of our Thomson Safari package. After filling out the paperwork we were picked up at our tented camp very early in the morning the next day. I was surprised when we arrived at the launching to learn that we were among a group of 65 people waiting to fly. Each balloon basket carried 16 tourists and our pilot so these balloons were huge! We were placed in groups, assigned a balloon, somehow managed to get in the basket, and took off just as dawn was breaking. We were in the air for about 50 minutes. Our pilot took us up quite high and down so low that we could hear the Serengeti grasses brushing the bottom of our basket. Upon landing a full English breakfast awaited us accompanied by generous amounts of champaign. It looked like everyone was having as much fun as we were. Finally we were each given a certificate, and driven back to our camp. Even though the trip was expensive I am so glad that we went ahead and splurged. High praise goes to our pilot, the workers who readied our balloons and took pictures of us, to those who cooked and served a remarkable breakfast, and to the people of Tanzania who have been wise enough to preserve this beautiful land in a national park.

This wasn't our first balloon ride, so we knew what to expect from the ride, but certainly not from the view!! It is expensive, but very splurge worthy. We bought the package before leaving Canada at 600 US$ each. We left the Serena lodge around 5 am and on our way saw a pride of over twenty lionesses waiting for their breakfast. OMG! What a way to start off our morning! Got to the balloon site and got to see the prep before taking off. The view is amazing, saw elephants, giraffes, hyenas, lions and many more. Going where the wind would take us. This is a very beautiful serene experience in the middle of the Serengeti. Captain Jones landed the balloon effortly, no dragging at all (too bad, this can be fun). Champagne or mimosa toast at landing with a brief history of ballooning (very interesting). Left for our "Out of Africa" breakfast, but on our way encountered a pride of several lionesses with their cubs. Breakfast experience is very original, they make everything on site, it is limited, but very cool! The "loo with a view" is worth going to. You also have a short diploma ceremony after breakfast. Loved every minute!

“Good Experience”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

This was a fun experience. I have been hot air ballooing before so I knew what to expect and drifting with the wind is still incredibly fun. However, the winds and the migration were not in our favor in terms of game viewing while on the balloon..that is not the fault of Serengeti Balloon Safari's. This was a very professional organization and seemed to be very well run. It is a lof of $ and it is borderline if it is worth it...but still a lot of fun.
