Strange to put this place up for review??? It is a river that you can cross... when it is possible. Which wasn't for us though. It was full and we have to turn around. But the surrounding was beautiful though.

Timing is everything for this attraction. Sometimes the river is flowing quickly, while at other times it is more gentle. It is almost always a great spot for bird watching and croc watching.

The area is very popular during the winter (between May and August) when the wildebeest and zebra migration crosses the Grumeti River. Permanent pools of water in the Grumeti and Mbalageti ensure a large resident population of animals throughput the year. Lions, Cheetah, Hyenas and Leopards are plentiful. The crocodiles of the Grumeti are gigantic and worth seeing. The Handajenga and Mbalageti Rivers have the highest population of Topi left in Africa. The Mbalageti area is also refuge for African Hunting Dogs, Roan Antelope and rare Patas Monkey. It is worth doing all the lops along the Grumeti and Mbalageti Rivers.

We spent 2 nights at Grumeti and it was nice to see how the eco-system changes because of the river. We saw more mid-sized animals rather than the big predators and saw lots of birds. It was interesting to see the diversity of the location
