This camp was the last leg of our safari and we really did end on a high. The tents (surely not the correct word for the luxury we stayed in) were great - clean, comfortable and spacious - the food was good and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Having pre dinner drinks on the "rocks" whilst watching the sun set is a marvellous way to end a day. Our driver/guide, Wolfgang, was a lovely man who was knowledgeable and quietly enthusiastic about all he was showing us. Watching him laughing at the antics of the tiny lion cubs made us realise that these guys are very lucky to be doing this as a job and that they clearly love and respect the wildlife all around them. If I were to be picky and find something to criticise it would be that the water wasn't always hot and we had some cool showers but to be honest, if that is all there is to complain about then Kusini really is a good place to stay!

We stayed here for three nights and had a very good time. Kusini is tented but not mobile and therefore has better infrastructure than other camps in the Serengeti. Our “tent” (being rather a very nice bungalow) offered every comfort you would expect to have in a four star hotel. The food was good (although we missed the local touch of it).The service was very friendly and professional (although in our perception the hotel manager, generally a nice guy, once or twice publically mentioned opinions that were not really politically correct and irritated us not only because he is a white South African. If the big animal migration is in the south of the Serengeti, you can observe literally thousands and thousands of wildebeest, zebras, antelopes, etc. etc. When we stayed there (End of December) all these animals were only a short ride away.

We stayed at Kusini Camp for 2 nights as part of our 5 night Tanzanian Safari. After a very long and bumpy road into the camp, it was a very welcoming oasis. We were warmly greeted by Mark who briefed us over a welcome drink. Sunset drinks were served on the "rock" before beautiful dinner in the restaurant. Drinks and catch up with our fellow travellers around the fire after dinner added to the very friendly, hospitable atmosphere of this camp. The safari tents are very comfortable and facilities generally were second to none. Mark and Cornelia made us feel totally at home.

It was beautiful, everything about kusini camp was great.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice, and pretty much the same. You can also hear all sort of animals form inside the tents.

The hotel and service were great. Our only negative was the driver who did not speak English well and seemed to be not to be up to par as we had at other camps and the internet was spotty. Food was good and they did a great job accomodating our special needs. The boutique was great. The rooms were very nice and staff was great. Mark and Cornelia are great hosts. We would recommend it highly

Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor. We are very pleased to hear you would highly recommend Sanctuary Kusini in the Serengeti and that you enjoyed the service and facilities. However, we would like to address your concerns about the driver and the internet connectivity.

The guide in question was undertaking his first safari with Sanctuary Retreats and whilst he had passed our initial assessments, it seems he did not perform well on this occasion. We apologise for this and have subsequently removed him from taking safaris on his own and he is currently undergoing further training. We are constantly providing training for all of our staff to push our service levels beyond the standard our guests have come to expect.

We apologise that the internet was working intermittently for you. We offer complimentary internet access for all guests and are constantly trying to improve the connectivity and speed of the service. Unfortunately due to the remoteness of the camp we do sometimes experience unforeseen problems.

Our guests’ comfort and enjoyment is of the highest priority to us and we welcome all feedback, both positive and negative, so that we can improve our service and we actively encourage guests to inform us of their experience both during and after their stay.

Thank you again for posting on TripAdvisor and we look forward to welcoming you back to one of Sanctuary Retreats’ lodges or camps.

With kind regards
